Title: Whose doing art for DbyD????
Post by: gabriel_ss4u on December 09, 2007, 10:37:25 AM
Diceless by Design is coming out w/their new Amber system, (revised?), and my question is.... WHO WILL DO THE ARTWORK?

Michael Kucharski did an awesome job an the last 2 book, :::resounding cheers:::, but who is slated for the new?
Will it be B&W, color, or mixed?

There are soooooo many talented artist out there and I could drop a ton of names as hopefuls, (lots of the D&D artists and many fantasy painters...) But I ran across a picture on-line today that looked very 'trump-like' by an awesome CCG/fantasy artist named Mark Evans
LINK:
http://www.pen-paper.net/artgallery/MarkEvans/EddardStarkpo.jpg.html

What do ya think?
And if you'd like, please leave a link to your artist's vote, I'll put a list of some of the better one's I've likened to 'trump-esque' style later.

(by the way, I do inking & coloring if anyone needs work done)

Is there anyone with updates or who could respond to this from DbyD?
Is there anyone that knows about their idea on artists.... cause I have a question I want to ask that person..

My guess is that they are a long way from actual formatting questions.

It would appear that there is a lengthy process of determining specifics of the liscence with the Zelazny estate and Erick (keeper of the RPG rights). From there will be writing, editing, playtesting, of a system.

Sometime after that will probably be the time to investigate actual graphic design and so on.

Mark Evans is great.  He's done some Palladium publications, including the amazing Madhaven cover (a bit different than what he'd do for Amber, but still great):

Yeah, I was hoping to employ help of anyone that wants to post any fantasy artists who have a 'Trump-like' art technique.
So feel free to list the artist of your liking in that area, and a link to their samples

You're assuming DbD will come around here looking for art.

r u ass u me-ing?

cause I ain't.

Once again though, if anyone wants to throw their ideas of great trump-like styled artists/fantasy artists... feel free, I'll be looking at it for some ideas of other blogger's likes

For me, Amber gets very visual, I get a million ideas when I see inspiring art.

I even give my hand at it, but am not great at pencils, ink & color though, that I can do.

You're posting in a thread asking who's doing the art for DbD.

You want people to make suggestions.

I note that the folks at DbD are unlikely to come here looking for them.

I think it's a reasonable leap of logic.

it doesn't seem very reasonable when you consider that this is the OFFICIAL forum for the Amber RPG.

Yes, there are some very cool artists with differnt styles, and some even look 'trump-esque' to me.
so if anyoneELSE besides otha has a comment on cool artists that have trump-like styles to their work, please, don't be intimidated by the otha, feel free to share.

Well, IMO, it doesn't matter.

They may be interested, or not, but this is still a thread to talk about amber and what we'd like to see in it. Even if it is never used, we can still have a good time talking about it without bothering whether the guys at DbD will be interested in it or not. If they find watch this and find this useful, fine! If they don't, we'll still have had great moments ;)

Title: Very Trumpesque
Post by: gabriel_ss4u on January 13, 2008, 06:14:32 PM
This artist has a cool style, I'm sure i would intrigue any Trump critic.

Her style brings visions of recently re-read Iconic visuals from the Amber series.

This was just the page I was on, she has alot of art, check it out.
any thoughts or any other art-searchers out there for Amber/Chaos type visuals?

Its very good but I don't think photo manipulation is the way to go. For some reason everytime I see photomanipulation done in a game setting it reminds me of those  Mindseye theatre guys pretending to be vampires.
Just get my cousin to do it ... :-)

All but 6 of these are his.

how about this artist, I mean, WOW...
a little comic bookie, but I was raised on those, so cool too me!
This artist could produce some lovely Trumps I bet!

I see your Mind'seye theatre (which was pretty bad) and raise you Legacy: War of Ages AND Immortal the Invisible War.

Ooh not sure,  when you have seen a skinny geeky nerd guy wandering round at a convention dressed in only a bath towel and carrying a rubber duck because he is pretending to be a Malkavian Prince .... they are just crazy those Malkavs, well its an image you just can't erase ...

A couple of us actually considered hiring some lap dancers to get all dressed up in Gothic fetishwear and gate crash one of their Vampire Balls just to see the look on their faces, but we feared it would only validate their sad and meaningless existances.

Well, either he's making fun of the whole thing, second-degree style, or he's just plain stupid...

If only ... I fear he was taking the thing very seriously and regarded his performace as the RPG equivalent to Gilgud's Hamlet ... but I digress.

And if you ask the question 'so why did the head vampire only embrace geeky nerds or women over 400 pounds?' they get really upset.

Hmm. My experience with Vampire LARPing usually involved really hot but crazy pseudo-Goth chicks, but my group tends to associate with people who aren't geeky nerds and 400 lb. women.

And anyone who's playing a Malkavian wearing a bath towel and carrying a rubber duck because they're "crazy" clearly misses the point of both the clan and the genre. But players like that are why my friends and I got out of that whole scene anyway.

OMG, That Legacy: War of Ages has got to be the worst game ever made, and the worst investment I ever made.

Hey guys.... her is my page on Deviant Art: check it out.
Here's my deviant website - full of other people's art that is idea-invoking of my Amber/Chaos campaign.
http://gabriel-ss4u.deviantart.com/
(please don't knock me for the few poke'mon pics, I like 'em.)
If you browse "My Favorites" on the page, you'll get visuals on Chaos, Amber, and Beyond.
