This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: jdurall;318903The Amber E-Mail List (http://leutheuser.com/amber/) has been around for something like 17 years or more, and most Amber DRPG fans have been using that all this time.
I was afraid you meant that one. I can't join it, I have no idea why, but every e-mail I send gets bounced. And I try several times a year...
Anybody here who can help me with this?

You're not alone. I was subscribed to the list many moons ago under a long since discarded email address. I tried (re)subscribing several years ago and got this message:

QuoteDelivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

     majordomo@logrus.org

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 : Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table (state 14).

Short, non-technical version: The mail server for logrus.org says it has has no idea who the "majordomo" user is, and no record of that address.

Since the above-referenced page with the subscription info hasn't been updated since 1999, I assumed the list was dead and the subscription page more or less abandoned (note that the logrus.org index page was last updated in 1997). Then I recently saw the mailing list mentioned here a few times, and always in the context of being active. I tried subscribing again. And again. And again. Always receiving the same error message above.

So, is anyone associated with logrus.org and/or deathstar.org (which is the server apparently hosting logrus.org) reading this? If so, can you check this out? If not, does anyone here know how to get in touch with whoever currently runs and maintains the list? A lot of the people here:

http://www.deathstar.org/users/

...are also referenced on logrus.org and leutheuser.com/amber, so they would seem to be the people to start with if nothing comes of this forum post.

More testing: Is anyone reading this currently subscribed to the list, and receiving email? If so, can you post messages to the list as well? Send commands to the majordomo list server, and receive the expected results? Unsubscribe and resubscribe? At least two inquiring minds want to know...
