This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Swine?

After an absence of two decades or so, I have resumed running Amber DRPG.  after two sessions, my small group and I are all enjoying the game immensely.
I have been referencing this forum for tips, clarifications, suggestions etc., and for the most part, have liked what I found here.
One thing that puzzles me is the recurring use of the term "Swine", to refer apparently to other gamers.  I am curious exactly what constitutes a swine.  I am wondering if I should avoid broaching certain subjects, or if I should not disclose certain things about myself to avoid being referred to in this way.
Can anyone enlighten me as to who exactly the Swine are, and I how I can avoid being lumped in with them?

Think hipsters.  Just elitist little pricks in the rpg world that believe they are the chosen ones that get to decide every thing for everyone else.  They make up their own games that are not game master friendly because rules must be followed.

I think RPGPundit would do better to explain it than I.

But certainly we, as proponents of a game as elegantly designed as ADRP, should be sophisticated enough to rebut its detractors without resorting to behavior as sophomoric as name-calling?

You're new here, aren't you, son.
You should go to GaryCon.  Period.

The rules can\'t cure stupid, and the rules can\'t cure asshole.

Pundit adopted the term from Hunter S Thompson some time ago, when Hunter was Pundit's regular avatar stand-in instead of Daniel Day Lewis. I think you can find a stickied thread on the Pundit's personal subforum here with his definition. Long story short, "the Swine" are people that Pundit thinks are (intentionally or not) attempting to ruin the RPG industry.

This is a forum full of diverse views, and not everyone here follows suit with Pundit's opinions on such things. I've seen one or two other posters use the term unironically from time to time, but for the most part its just Pundit's thing.
