This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Happy New Year one and all.

I feel the Spoken Truths game had dragged a bit. This was really due to 2 factors. The fact that I was asked to run it as opposed to coming in with a formated game ready to go meant that I was prepping stuff as I went. However, the main delay has been in the Sanctum space where I felt that the players should be able to determine the make up of the Sanctum and that this was required before the 'game' proper began. As a result I was unable to start the Grand Ball kick off event prior to the Sanctum positions being decided. In retrospect I would have done better handling this in another way but it did lead to a very good debate and lots of great in role stuff (in fact it still does as it is still going on).
In any case now I have the majority of the positions decided it is my intention to launch the actual start of the game proper. It will run a little like Lost in that there will be previous historical threads that are still going on and new ones will be added. Will be up to me to ensure that the present and the 'flashbacks' all tie together. I am confident that this will be easy enough to achieve.

I must say I have been consistently impressed with the quality of role play and interaction. The Sanctum meeting is excellent and the previous activities of the PCs have really established them for me. There are some flashbacks that are complete and I will likely add new ones for those PCs so that a player has their current thread and their flashback thread active at each point. Some of those completed Flashbacks might be suitable to share specifically the Seige of Antiqua, the Traitor Rake and the Sanctum Meeting itself. I will probably open these up and if a player wants to open up a flashback they are always able to simple add the All:read acl flag to the item.

So The Grand Ball will be kicking off this week. All PCs are invited. Unlike the other threads which by their flashback nature carry a certain degree of predetermination the Live threads are open and will be driven by the actual ongoing plot.
I am thinking that live threads might need a flag so that everyone knows that they are live and not historic.

Happy New Year everyone.

It's good to see things are moving along and that the Engagement Ball is now posted. Thanks for all the work you're putting into this jibbajibba, I'm sure everybody appreciates it.

I've made the Traitor Rake flashback available for everybody to read but I've left the Siege of Antiqua for jibbajibba to do (seeing as it wasn't just my flashback).

Technically the Traitor Rake thread was a flashback for Galfor as well :)

Yeah, I realised my faux pas after I posted. I hope Locathus will forgive me.

i may not be able to post much for a bit- i am in the middle of moving, and will probably have no internet for a few days around this weekend.

No worries, RL and all that. I will refrain from posting to the Ball thread though as Greg is pretty central to the action as Dane and Rey are really waiting for what he does.

On a linked topic I haven't seen any posts at all since that great snippet of fiction from Helel (aka Schattersturm) and Galfor (aka Locathus) hasn't posted for a while.

Does anyone know if either of them are still about/interested? Galfor's stuff has been excellent (see the traitor Rake thread for some examples) and I woudl hate to loose Locathus as a player. Helel had real potential and if Shatterstrum isn't goign to pursue him I would likely offer the character up to another player. I have too many PCs to deal with as it is.

The engagement ball scene is stuck. I don't mind pushing my character in the spotlight but I feel like Degion has already been having plenty of it during the Sanctuum meeting. Nobody else wants to take the lead right now?

Xenon

i have about 4 of my 5 bookcases in boxes now. just posted something to the ball while i still can, try and get things moving at a less glacial pace there.

my stepfather got hit by a car last night while he was out walking (hes okay just banged up a bit), so the moving thing over here got a fair bit more complicated. have to log out and box a lot more stuff again now.

boulet

Sorry about your stepfather Xenon, I hope he's doing better.

Good move with Rey' and thanks for taking the time in your busy real life !

jibbajibba

Yeah Xenon hope everything is okay.

it took longer than expected, but i have moved, and have everything up and running again! now i just need to get a router so both computers can be online at once (got a new one for xmass, but its got windows 7) >.>

im thinking Greg and Rey can get a separate thread for conversation over drinks, now that we are out of the ballroom.

Hope every one is okay and the hosue move went well. I will set up a new thread for Greg and Rey.

The Engagement Ball seems to have stopped all of a sudden. I know that there is probably at least one side-thread taking place but shouldn't things be moving on the Ball itself as well?
