You know, I've always thought that Shadow Storms were a very cool kind of phenomenon, a combo of a hurricane and a Rift, throwing things from god-knows-where to you or throwing you to godknowswhere...
Have people ever used Shadow Storms for more than just occasional weather or the effects of the Jewel?
Any plotlines that can be developed with this?

Hello there!
As a matter of fact, a large part of my current campaign is based around what happened when Ghostwheel Trumped a large shadowstorm on top of Forest Arden. Ghost was trying to help one the PCs save Amber from an invasion. It seemed like a great idea at the time. It did stop the invasion, but it caused universal repercussions that have taken well over a year of playtime to deal with.
(Note to all you eager young constructs out there: before grabbing onto a huge shadow storm or other strange force, you might want to find out what caused it, and what it's actually made of.)
Personally, I've only used Shadow Storms to add to a dramatic situation, especially ones dealing with major destruction in Shadow, rather than the effects of the Jewel of Judgment. I use it as a result of major change in Shadow rather than a cause, but I could see it go either way.
I make it very clear that not getting away means probable death for them, or at least the possibility of being stuck somewhere forever, so the players take it very seriously.
So far noone has done anything to cause them, yet. To me, any given shadow storm should have a cause.
I played in a game where one character developed the "Despil" idea in Shadow Knight of devising a way to create and control shadow storms. They made for an effective weapon, but lacked any real finess. Plus the entire construct on which they were based was wiped out when NPCs sucessfully infiltrated the control centre and buggered around with the targeting system.
I've toyed with the idea that shadow storms might be used as a shortcut under/around/between shadow (stepping into one storm and emerging from another) or alternatively, that the PCs might become trapped in the storm and unable to shift out (a Bermuda triangle effect that simple shadow walking can't escape since the storm follows any shadow path that the PC walks and sucks in that shadow too) but not done anything with either idea yet.
Shadow storms are a key part of my current plot, they are linked to Primal Chaos and are controlled by a construct entity known as The Maelstrom.

Personally I find the right labels, 'names' and flavor just kind-of come about - like a collective consciousness.... I like the idea, Sounds like something I might borrow and build upon for my House Zepher of Chaos... if you don't mind.
PS, I do have a 'source-book' type amount of info for Chaos, and I know everyone probably (or at least should if they are GM's) have their own... but I'm willing to share as some has come from ideas I've gathered from all over.
