This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Nothing "wrong" with 2-pointers, and sometimes I have used them.  But ultimately, I just don't see most Amberites acting that way.  Sure, some are paranoid and power-hungry, but the ADRPG default of "everyone's a paranoid psycho" isn't realistic.  I think that most Amberites, particularly those who are not hundreds or thousands of years old, wouldn't be out creating their perfect shadow fortress, but would instead simply find one they liked.  I usually resist the urge to spend that extra point for story reasons, not because I don't see the power of the build.

RPGPundit

Yes, I think the reason that older Amberites don't go around doing a lot of the "munchkiny" things that the PCs are likely to try is simply because they did all that, hundreds of years ago, and have figured out that they are ultimately either very dangerous or useless.

Quote from: Tarondor;321592Story is all.  I couldn't care less about the power.  Power is ultimately boring.

Well now, what if power was the goal of a character in a story?
There are more than one way to do things, let's not assume cause it's not 'my' way it may be wrong or useless. I make this mistake sometimes and it usually comes back to bite me on the arse.
