This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The immortal city of... EMBER (LOL)

When I read a really good novel, I tend to get lots of ideas for Amber.
One of the best books I read back in 1987 was 'The Bourne Identity", (I was 19) that opened alot of (books) doors for me.
I got into Amber in '92, and soon started reading all I could find about Amber.
(Thanks to Arref, MaBerry, and all those early internet Amber dudes).
I also came across a short story that gave me a helluva laugh.
I did a search in the forum, and found nothing about it...
could it be it's offensive to some Amberites?
I hope not, as it's comedic qualities far outshine it's spoofing atrocities.
It's called "The Dying of Ember"
(from the SF-Lovers Archives at Rutgers University) by Kevin Knight 1988

Have you read it?

What do you think about it?

It's been a few (6 or so) years since I read it last, I'm about to read it again.
If you don't have it, want it, or never read it & can't find it, lemme know. I'll e-mail you a copy.

Yup. There's a copy of it here. I remember seeing the link on some other board not all that long ago.
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

gabriel_ss4u

Thanks GrimGent, yes... a parody.
I originally found it in '92 or '93, it had this staement prceeding it... I'm surprised the link GrimGent had provided doesn't have it, that's why I was gonna e-mail it if requested, besides the notice it's the same.
