This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ivanhoe

My first test adventure as a GM heavily borrowed from both "shrinking shadows" and "battlefield earth" scenario ideas (I don't remember their exact name, and I can't consult the book right now). It was set during the war against Chaos. I supposed that during his amnesia, Corwin ended in Scotland in front of a ruined castle that is a distant projection from castle Amber. He drew something akin to the Pattern on the ground of the deepest cave, vaguely remembering that something should have been there. Nothing potent but yet with a slight touch of power. Enough anyway to lure a bad Chaosian scout (low level lord, a good first adversary) in front of the ruins and make him believe he was in front of Amber Castle. He began to seize a nearby city to besiege what he thought was the home of Amber's power. Needless to say Earth's military immediately reacted under the clever supervision of aunt Flora (who happens to know very well some of those high ranking generals of the NATO). Understanding that it was the beginning of a Chaosian invasion she asked for support through one of the PCs she helped in the past.

It was a good introduction to the Power That Be and to give the PCs a grip on the power Amberites including themselves wield on the shadows. Long story short, after seeing that Chaosian lord managed to import some sorcery that should not work on Earth (controlled tornadoes) they used a clever "-ucking chaosian lord detector" : nuke the zone. The enemy is on the circular patch that is not carbonized. After that, they cleared the pattern-like drawing by using the (voluntarily shed) blood of a PC Corwin's heir.

There were two Lords : one warrior-type, one power-oriented type, both stronger than any PC alone. They did not make the mistake however of splitting and attacked together. They understood it was a good idea when the warrior grew a third arm to surprise the skilled fencer PC.
