This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: jibbajibba;564861I use it all but I reject the Demon ranking options and rank demons on the characters scale.

Actually i just have a single scale for everyone.

Neither do I. I've outright rejected the mental hurtle of trying to figure out what a demon rank means against character rank in the middle of play. Where do others stand on this?

The odd thing abouthte rule is that Erik talks abotu situations where GMs make it difficult for themselves by having NPCs with the same stas as players and all sortts of stuff. His argument being you are in charge of this why would you make it harder than it needs to be.

Yet .... he says have a ranking system for elders, one for demons, one for chaosites ...

No just have one ranking scale PCs, demons, chaosites , eldres all on one scale. Easy.

By all means let the 1st rank PC think they are first rank until they run into Bleys. Then they find out that things are different.

This is also what I do...and I feel somewhat conflicted about it, because Erick is a very smart man, and I would rather stick to the letter of the law in his rules. However, I wouldn't want to do the mental gymnastics of reconciling an elder scale, a player scale and a demon scale. I wonder, are we missing something in this approach?

I'll bet the truth is that Erick didn't do any of this stuff. Points were probably more for the players than for him, and I'll bet he didn't really follow his own rules very closely. ;)

I reconcile all this in LoO by having a single scale, and ranks "Above 1st class" for higher-powered beings.

I took what I liked from SK and round-filed the rest. Period.
