This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Lords Of Olympus Semi-Update: One Year On

So, one year ago today, I had announced to the world that I was working on Lords of Olympus, a new Diceless RPG inspired by the best diceless system of all time; set in a multiverse where the Greek Myths were based in fact. Player Characters would be the children of Olympians or Titans, caught up in the varied affairs of the gods while engaging in multiversal adventuring.

I won't deny that I would really have hoped Lords of Olympus would already be out by now; but fortunately, I can report that there's been some progress on this subject.  The publisher is now working on the layout and art for the game; I've seen the proposed cover and title font and they look very good.

Anyways, my thanks to those who have expressed an interest in this game; and my apologies for any testing of your patience in waiting for it.  Its my sincere hope that by this time next year, all of you who'd want it will have had this game in your hands (and hopefully, your campaigns) for some time already.

Knock on wood.

Cool. I'm hoping to be able to sit down and play this this year. Are we going to get some previews?

Croaker

I won't be able to play it, but I sure will be buying it! :)

Have there been playtests without you as the GM?

Have you considered doing an Open Beta?

Will it have its own website? Perhaps with full tutorials about how to play?

I am not a diceless fan, but I am a Greek myth fan and enjoy LARPs so LoO has intrigued me. Depending on the presentation of the final product and its marketing, you might have something quite exciting here.

There will be some previews, yes; there were already previews of a sort with the rather long series of "Lords of Olympus Q&A" posts, but there'll be more.  Only not until there's a more definitive printing schedule.

In a way, there's been decades of "Playtesting".  We are past the stage of doing any "betas".
Whether or not it will have its own "official" website will depend on Brett and Precis Intermedia.

I hope you end up enjoying the game when it comes out.

Form the group wisely, make sure you share goals and means.
Set norms of table etiquette early on.
Encourage attentive participation and speed of play so the game will stay vibrant!
Allow that the group, milieu and system will from an organic symbiosis.
Most importantly, have fun exploring the possibilities!

Its now been over a year since the text was completed; but as Brett already stated, he's working on getting the gamebook done, and we're all hoping there'll be good news soon.  I'll try to keep people updated as often as possible.

Trust me, there isn't a person in the entire multiverse more anxious for this game to see the light of day soon than myself.
