This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Yes, and add to that the fact that you'll have the hard work already done for you (powers, etc.) and the setting stuff written by someone who has an expertise at least related to the subject.

Its going to take time. Right now I've got about 90 pages done, and I'm about a third of the way (roughly) done.  I figure it will still take a few months to get it finished. And after that, it may take a few weeks or months more for it to be published.

If we're lucky, it'll be out by the end of the year, but it could take longer.  Don't worry though, work proceeds and I'll keep people updated as to where things are.

Is there any reason diceless games seem to lean toward supra-beings as PCs?

Possibly the opposite. It's hard in a dice based system to cope with Super humans and normal folk.

If a man on the street can hit a traget 70% of the time and inflict a wound that would remove 1/3 of their 'life' quite easy. If you scale that up then the super human has a 210% chance of hitting and removing all off the lfe with a hit.

So to have a dice based system that can cope with Mortal through to Superman is a huge challenge if you hope to provide challenges at each level. diceless can achieve that (actually so can a diced system based on opposed rolls but I digress) .

It may have something to do with the idea that supra-beings are so good at what they do that they take the element of random chance out of the equation.  Whereas a mere mortal's victories or failures can be due to unforeseen accidents, or a stiff wind blowing the wrong way, whatever a supra-being tries to do will only be thwarted by the purposeful actions of another supra-being.

Ah.  That makes sense.

I'm quite taken with the idea of diceless games, but I lean toward the "talented mortal" level of PC proficiency.  Random elements and luck are part of that equation, so maybe diceless can't do it.

As mentioned in my blog today, I'm officially past 100 pages now, the project continues:  I've been writing faster lately, now that I've gotten past the technical quagmire of managing the powers.  The section on combat was a breeze in comparison.
