Anybody ever have a player character or NPC do this in their campaign? How might it work and how effective might it be?
Would there be Pattern-based techniques of healing in your campaign, or is this only for Logrus-users?
It's interesting that few pages later, the
Ty'iga also performs a laying on of hands upon the injured Luke.

Who is he healing? Could he just be infusing energy, doing away with fatigue and pain, or is he actually closing wounds and mending bones?

He's healing Luke, after Luke pops up wounded in Vinta Bayle's residence. We don't learn any details beyond those given in the quote above.
Merle's not kidding when he says he's something of an amateur at it, since when the
ty'iga walks in, she feels the need to provide Luke additional healing.
Ostensibly, Luke had been wounded by Dalt, but I've wondered if it could have been self-inflicted? After all, he wants to turn Merlin to his side. If he asks for Merle's trust, Merlin will punch him out and haul him off Random. So, like any good grifter, Luke knows that if you want to reel someone in, you don't ask for their trust, you give them yours.
That's why they call it a con(fidence) game, since the grifter places his confidence in the mark, and the mark thereby responds by returning the grifter's trust, with the ultimate end of the grifter then ripping him off.
Also, we tend to feel good about the people we take care of and nurse back to health, so Luke's got Merle on this angle too. Even though Luke is the wounded one, he walks all over his clueless college buddy.
It's an almost painful read.

I think I'd allow this as a specialty to a Logrus Master looking for some unique skills, especially if they put study into shapeshifting.
Logrus is a toolset.
To me, it is logical to imagine 'logrus staples' closing wounds and keeping someone in triage so that their own healing can kick in.
Actually curing or erasing wounds? No, don't think so.
What about using the logrus to establish a link through which you'd work yur shapeshift "close wounds" power? Combined with an energy infusion to "boost" and revitalize the target.

Nothing to add to the Logrus healing that hasn't already been said. I just wanted to say that Merlin is by far the most gullible person in the entire damned series. This was only one part that made me want to groan.
