Did anyone else watch Jumper and instantly think it could easily have been called 'Brand: The Movie'?

I haven't seen it yet but I did take note of it. Can you tell us more about it?

Lol, 'Brand: the movie', I would pay big money to see that :) I could be sold on the idea of seeing Jumper.

Which reminds me, anyone here going to film school and secretly hoping to one day direct 'Nine Princes in Amber'? (let's face it, SciFi is never gonna film it) Or did someone think of just sending a copy of the chronicles to Peter Jackson and see if he'll get obsessed enough to produce/direct/edit 5 movies over the course of 7 years?

It's actually a rather mediocre action film. It is based on an early 90's Scifi novel who's notoriety comes from two apparently violent and graphic scenes in the first 10 pages.

The reason I say it could be called 'Brand: The Movie' is that it is about this kid that discovers he can 'Teleport' anywhere he can visualize accurately. Essentially he is a living Trump that is (or is not, if you look at the plans for a movie sequel) confined to shadow Earth.

Like I said, as a movie it is horribly mediocre. But there is a scene where he grabs a photograph and tries to 'jump' there. The photo comes alive just as a Trump would when activated.

I haven't read the novel. But from watching the movie, it seems that it is very derivative of Amber like concepts.

As for selling you on seeing the movie. I enjoyed it but eh, its not that great. It is a fun action flick, but don't expect much.

Wait for the DVD like me

Like most great stories I cringe when I think of how Hollywood might blunder or even destroy a great epic.

Like LotR, it needs to be a group that has a great love of Zelazny's story and vision, as well as a flair for his poetic presentation.

We could only hope & wish for the best. and maybe use some Pattern Magic to influence chance.

Ok everyone, let's pull out our Peter Jackson Trump and all concentrate at once....  Otha! stop blocking contact!
