This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

This shoudl really be up int eh media inspiration section but , meh...

Iain Banks Trransition - where a bunch of trained adepts travel through multi-dimensions where they attempt to manilpulate reality. Seems ripe for an Amber makeover.

One of my concerns over 2 of the three current 'Amber' projects is that they are just releasing a new version of the base rules with a different gallery of faces and a slightly different slant on things. I can do that myself at no cost and with miminal effort. I can't see why they would attract old hands to part with real money (although introducing new players is a valid position).

Transition offers something other, but could still be handled with the diceless sytem.

On a similar note, see Neal Stevenson's new (and very enjoyable) novel Anathem.

I assume you're not talking about Lords of Gossamer and Shadow, because that's not what I'm doing with it.

And Transition is on my "go to" list of inspirational material.
