Considering running a Play by Post

Artifacts, out of curiosity, where are you in the world?  (Mostly... which timezone?)  Trying to gauge when is best to do my posts for maximum responses?

In Usa the east coast. I usually post during work hours, when I am free. 10 am to 6-8 pm depending on the day.

AoA: Ed and I are US West Coast.  Gav is UK.

I also don't know what kind of character I want to play.  I've been doing a lot of Amber games recently, so I'm sort of running out of ideas.  Perhaps instead of having a theme, I'll just throw some cool quirks together and see what happens?

I kind of want to be a support character, instead of a "best in the universe".  I'll need another PC to act as my Batman, of course.  Any takers?

But I want a really cool mount.  Wyvern, or gryphon.  Something like that.  As I say all this, I kind of realize that I'm talking about Marilith.  That would make it a bit easier to build.

Hi, I followed the trail of the others here.  More Amber sounds like fun, I'm just unsure I can commit to a post a day.  When I have time, I have lots of it and I tend to check like crazy, and I do like to play...  And you did say you wanted short posts.  Which may actually be a challenge.  Sigh.

Just out of interest, would you have space for one more?

Edited to add: actually, with all the time I spend cecking for updates on my other games, yeah, yeah, I could write an extra post a day.  So if there is space, I'd like to play!

Yeah you can fill the last slot, so to speak.

What kind of time frame are we looking at for being able to participate in how often you could post. My only concern is the game moving to slowly. It is often what kills a game.

How much Amber experience do you have?


We are gonna shoot for finalizing characters by Friday morning.

The bidding is only if you want to have the freedom to out rank people. Otherwise you can just assign a number of points and then I will let you know how you rank. If you are within a few points of someone else you may be told you are ranked equally, often the only way to know who is better is to contest all out on that stat.

I do need Character concepts ASAP. so I can flesh out the few NPC youngers I will have since they are ranking with you.

As an aside the Elders are on a different ranking ladder but you can easily match and beat them. I don't run them as Super human compared to youngers, in fact a few are built on less points than you get to start. Guessing which ones those are can be dangerous. Some are built on a 2-3 times as many points. But doesn't mean they don't have a few Amber stats.

So any question let me know. PM with character concepts as they Gel I will start throwing them on the Website.

Plan to have Golden circle up today for those interested. Don't feel you need to know all of it, just there for reference.

Hey!  Thanks for the invite, but I hope Zincht can join too, if (s)he wants?  After all, (s)he was here before I was!

Not sure what you mean by the timeframe.  One post a day, particularly a short one, should be doable.  I'm also in other games with some of the other players, so I guess we could prompt each other if needed?  As I spend a lot of time behind the computer, and will in all likelyhood do so for the next 4 to 5 years (and hopefully longer), I hope I can manage.

I can't remember anymore how long I've been playing Amber, but a good long while.  Mostly online, but I've been to several Cons as well (ACUK and recently in NI) and I've played two FtF campaigns and GMd one or two myself as well.  I'm a better player then I'm a GM, though.  My players seemed to enjoy it, but I lose direction and then the game flounders...  Much better to be a player, for me.  

English isn't my first language, but I'm told I'm adequate enough and I actually prefer it if people tell me when I make mistakes.  After all, it's the only way to learn (yes, that's an invitation to nag me, people).

Thanks dear , I was debating putting you down as a reference.
But I mean it, if you see something which isn't obviously a typo, tell me!  I mean the infernal then/than things, and when you say live or save instead of life or safe.  I think I've got it, but it doesn't come naturally.  Oh, and that's another thing.  Yesterday I figured out why it's so difficult for me when I should write, in this example, natural vs naturally; in Dutch, we would use the same word.  It depends of the function the word has in the sentence, which means I have to remember when to use either form and I'm mostly to lazy to do that and just type something.  I want to learn, though, so....

ikay - sounds like plenty of experience, and your English is probably better than mine a native speaker but product of a southern education. That and my typing skills suck!!

As far as posting goes. A post a day should be plenty. I Don't think we will be moving that fast.


Gonna start posting Character to the site as characters get finalized. I plan to use the site mostly for reference. and run the game here.
