Arizona AmberCon Thread

Hello everyone,

After talking to the people responsible for planning and running the various AmberCons around the world, I am pleased to say that I am undertaking the huge task of planning an AmberCon in Arizona (with little experience but lots of enthusiasm, might I add).

I am currently looking for venues and I'd love to use some of the input any of you may have, when it comes to just about anything.

I am also in need of a web/forum administrator since that is one of the first things that I've been told to begin with.


This is all in the works and I may not have anything for 2008, but if I can make it happen by the end of the year, I will. If not 2008, then 2009 is looking pretty certain.

At this time, I think that the con could start friday afternoon and end sunday afternoon/evening.

Suggestions/advice/questions are welcome! Thank you!

My mom lives in Arizona, count me in, hopefully by the end of the year it'll happen.

I've been trying to come up with a clever name for the convention, but so far, AmberCon Arizona is the most appropriate. It's straightforward and not obscure...

Still looking for locations for now while I work on a small forum.

Depends on where, but a few ideas come to mind;

Mesa-Con Amber
Phoenix-con Amber (allusions to Brand abound)
Tucs-Con (Tucson)
Four-Corners Con (4 corner state) (I like this one)
Xero-Con (as in the xeropyhte plants such as cactus)
Yuma-Con? (LOL)
or, my Mom lives in Cottonwood AZ
Cotton-Con? heh, gettin' slap-happy w/it.

or simply AmberCon Arizona is cool too.

Once I get a better computer, I can do allllll kindza stuff to assist.
e-mail me on this site for further info N.M., I still have not made it to any Amber-cons, so my 1st hand knowledge of them is very limited, but I've been to other cons.

Hi! I did receive your email during a very busy time. If you want to give me a ring over any questions on the organization at other AC's, I'll email you my phone number. Trying to write everything out is too big a task ;-)

Things are still very flexible and I'm very interested in seeing what the Amber fan  base has in terms of suggestions and ideas.

I've narrowed down dates and I am in the process of narrowing down a location. I should have something secured within a month.

GMs! We need GMs!

If you're planning on attending, please consider GMing too!
And if you're not planning on attending, well, tell you friends... And come anyway!

If you wish to GM at the con for a game other than Amber, go ahead and submit a game as well. It doesn't have to be diceless or even Amber (although it is preferred and most games being run there will be).
For instance, two of our current GMs plan on running a Serenity (Firefly) game based on the Amber Diceless rules.
