This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

An Amber-in-all-but-name Game?

I signed up, but was really torn on which level. Do I understand correctly that I can upgrade to higher patronage if I decide to do so?

Quote from: jdurall;378237I wouldn't get too hung up on camps and labeling ideology.

It's just games... the point is to have fun.

I subscribe.
Let's leave ideology to politics and religion, and theory to science.
But of course if someone desires to put ideology (as if games were religions) or theory (as if games were quantum mechanics) in RP games, they can do it, but I am not interested neither in the former nor in the latter.
And hope they don't try to force me to play the way they like.

Quote from: Spike;377987Nonsense. I have nothing to do with the Forge and as a long time GM I have always considered myself a player as well.  I may not play the same way, but I'm there at the table, rolling fucking dice with everyone else, and if I'm not having fun, then I quit doing it.

 a player.

Yeah but you know that wasn't what they meant.

you guys are trying to do it in 60 pages?
How the hell are you going to fit it all in there?!

For the record, with Lords of Olympus, I'm currently up to 80 pages (50k words) actually written, and I've just finished the character-creation section.  I do offer a few more powers, but really, to be able to get not just character creation, but mechanics resolution, GM advice, and Setting material all in one book, and expect to keep it at 60 pages, will require quite the wordsmith.

Seriously

Again its only an estimate, we are not limited to 60 pages. But I expect more concise writing and less use of examples. Jason has a history of this for example he got the Basic Role-Playing quickstart into 24 pages. And desktop layout is very flexible, compared to what was available 17+ years ago.

Well, more power to you. Its certainly something I wouldn't be capable of doing.
Lords of Olympus is going to clock in at around 200 pages, in all likelihood.

Just thought I would let folks know in one week we are 66% to goal with 7 weeks remaining to reach our patronage goal.

So far it has broken the record of every patronage project we have ever produced.

It might become a very good product, but I'm not sure I like the title... Still considering a patronage though :-)

Now, next thing is a fan based attempt creating an Amber world book / campaign setting for it :-)

There are basically two already! (1) Amber Diceless Role Playing, and (2) Shadow Knight. Both written by Erick Wujcik. The rules mechanic is the same as LoGaS and should be totally compatible.... ;)

Say ... why don't you assume that it's going to happen and get started early! :D You know we'll get there!

I've got one or two things in the queue ahead of it, and I never, ever count on anything happening until it's a done deal.

And even then I'm about 10% skeptical.
