This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: RPGPundit;237792Pathar, I'm not sure if it was what you were suggesting, but I'll note that while Zelazny was absolutely explicit about no one else writing more Amber novels, he was very enthusiastic and personally approved of the Amber RPG.

So if there's a problem with the estate its probably along the lines of either:
a) they want more money
or
b) they want to force the RPG to include crap from the Betancourt Books, and the designers (quite rightfully) don't want to do that.

And not that they're somehow claiming that an Amber RPG is not what Roger would have wanted; which would be utterly ridiculous given that the Zelazny estate (ie. his bitch of an ex-wife) has shat all over what Roger really wanted all this time.

I'm not in any way an official source, but I am occasionally in touch with the guys from DbD. When they acquired the license from GoO, we talked about working on the new edition and bringing Rebma finally into print.

The last contact I had with them indicated that they basically needed to take the time to get things hammered out legally with the Zelazny Estate. Erick/Phage had signed all legal documents required to transfer the license, and I think it's mostly a matter of making things official.

Two guys make up Diceless by Design. One is a lead developer on a little-known computer game called Spore. The other is a computer consultant who in the last year or so moved across the country and started a new business. Both have had their hands full with that.

Again, I'm not a spokesman for them, but I think the only holdup is that getting things going takes time and attention, both of which are in short supply.

If there were some onerous demands from the Zelazny Estate regarding the Betancourt novels, I imagine it would have been mentioned.

Well, I certainly understand that they are busy and that they are a small company, but it does seem like they should give updates at least occasionally so that the rest of us don't totally forget that they are still out there.

Even to say "nothing new, but we're trying" or something like that.

Yeah, I agree. The thing is that given the opportunity I would love to support this project to the hilt. I so want to love again but at the same time I fear being hurt once more… *sniffle*
