Title: Wretched Bastards
Post by: RPGPundit on August 14, 2024, 10:39:35 PM
I review Wretched Bastards, a game by the Red Room, which is based not on Conan, but on those B-grade Conan knockoffs of pulp fantasy.

The end bit about Wretched Bastards where you call it 'violent fantasy' seems very succinct!  While flipping thru the book, I expected you to make some comment about the layout, illustrations etc., which seem very evocative, but you didn't really mention them.  I really like the digest or even paperback size for game books, but the font seemed a bit on the small side in it.

The art and layout in the Red Room's games are always good, but within that this one did not strike me as being particularly impressive in that range. Certainly not compared to something like Wretched New Flesh or Wretched Epoque. It's good, by all standards, just not special in comparison to the publisher's other products.
