This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I had my own doubts about the funnel system, but in actual play it was fantastic.  My players LOVED it.  And yes, with the professions, equipment and lucky rolls, it meant that pretty much every character ended up having a nascent personality right off the bat.

Well, I've been on the fence about DCC for a while now, but that review just pushed me over the edge; off to order the limited edition cover rulebook.

I'll chime in on thumbs up for this review. It, combined with general curiosity and the sudden option of picking up a copy for 'round $25, go me persuaded to buy into DCC.

Got it today and haven't read much in it, but yeah, it's an impressive og gorgeous looking book.

Ran Sailors on the Starless Sea last Thursday. 3 players, 4 0th level characters each with replacements for losses. We had a huge amount of fun. 11 Pc's died but the survivors truly felt like heroes. The funnel makes you really appreciate 1st level and I love the DCC aesthetic that there are no mundane adventures, only epic ones.
