This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Sorry. My enthusiasm got the better of me, trying to convince others of the value of the system. Plus, I recently re-read Renaissance Deluxe (last week) so its impression was fresh on my mind.

Consider it an added voice to the choir.

QuoteIf you like the free SRD I recommend buying Renaissance Deluxe, which has a fair number of interesting extra bits in it, including the sanity-mechanic required for Dark Streets, which I am told is not in the SRD. (Available in print-on-demand soon.)
Personally, I own Renaissance Deluxe in pdf and print already.

My point was to recommend the free version as a good start for those who might be interested in seeing what the system has to offer.

Quote from: Stainless;698756I did the proofing on the book (along with the authors, of course), although I admit I didn't have time to go through all of it. What struck me was how good a condition the manuscript was in when I received it. Other RPGs I've helped proof seem to come from the author only after its been semi-randomised. I feel it's testament to Pete's and Ken's approach to quality.

I see. Well, no, no problems that I saw there!

Dark Streets will be available in print again very soon - it has been on a fortnight break, as we've moved from C7 to self-publishing. And the Hellfire adventure will also be available in print. In the meantime, in the midst of Pirates & Dragons work, I've been editing a new adventure for Dark Streets.

I just picked up The Depths of Winter adventure. Awesome stuff, and helpful for porting Colonial Gothic material over to the Renaissance system. I'm thinking of eventually using the rules from Pirates & Dragons to achieve a somewhat more cinematic approach.

If there's one thing I'd like to see added to Renaissance (Deluxe) to make it an even more versatile setting toolkit it would be a small illustration of each weapon, together with an indication of when and where it was in use.

I'm glad you liked it - Roger and Ade have been doing some great work for the line.

Cakebread & Walton are a beacon of proper editing and proofing among small press RPG publishers; I've not noticed even a single misplaced apostrophe or misspelled homophone in any of their products that I've read!
