This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[Treasure Hunt] IC #1: "Murdered by Pirates is good."

Just my luck, Hafkris thinks to himself with a barely audible groan, I've been marooned with a bunch of Meat priests!

After the passionate exchanges, the group trudges westward in the search for shelter.  Much to Sterling's dismay, there aren't any real trees to be found here, and no pieces of wood remotely the size needed to serve as a proper quarterstaff.  The only vegetation found is moss, lichen, and small  shrubbery.  The group has been on the move for about an half hour or so, and is currently walking along in a depression between two large hills.

After a few minutes of walking in this area, you hear faint noises that are barely audible over the noise of the stinging rain and screaming wind.  It's difficult to make out, but you are certain that it's not a natural noise created by the environment and weather conditions.  It seems to be coming from  your left, beyond the hill to your left.

Jono lets out a sigh.

"Well, odds are pretty good that it's not Orc-Face's pirate buddies. With our luck, it's a whole new crew of pirate slavers."

Jono hunkers down and moves slowly, pinning himself as tightly to the hill as he can, trying to take a peak to see what's there.

Arnould will climb up the hill to the left to identify the threat as quickly as possible. He will try to peek and take cover when he reaches the top of the hill, rather than just provide an easy target for whoever or whatever's coming their way. They are at a disadvantage here, between the hills, but who knows what's going on? Better to assess the situation right away than wait here to be caught, slaughtered, or otherwise miss some welcome opportunity.

Seeing Arnould scurrying up the hill, Jono pulls back, casting a wary eye at Hafkris, who is presumably not being dragged up behind him.

relying on his natural stealth, Sterling dashes to what cover there is then meanders up the hill not far from Arnould, making sure to crawl the last bit ...thinking to myself as I go "Oh what I would give for a stout bit o' oak and a fish ta fill mebelly!"

Kelvan will take a guarding position near the center of the valley , waiting to see what the "scouts" discover .

While the others are busy looking for the source of the noise, Porcius creeps up to Hafkris from behind and prods him to get his attention. "If you ever have enough of these preachers, just tell me" - he says in a low, completely flat voice and a stony face. "Odin and Thor won't mind me killing you, and it might be a relief after the grating salvation yabber. Now, tell me what the hell this Bitch Queen is and where it is and what it looks like and what it does, and then I promise you'll have a quick end when the time comes." His deep eyes betray no emotion, and his composure is like a stone statue.
Obvious troll is obvious. RIP, Bill.

Jon drops his armload of wood and selects a stout chunk as a club before taking up a position near Halfkris and Porcius with a sigh.

The half-orc pirate looks generally confused at Poricus' words and seems to choose his words carefully so as not to set the dwarf off, "she is Umberlee, goddess of the seas."

Arnould, Sterling, and Vithar climb about thirty-five feet up the slope of the hill directly north of the group's position.  As they reach the top of the slope, they quietly and slowly poke their heads above the ground.  Looking northward along the top of the hill's ground level, they can see there three more smaller hills atop this one, and one of the them is directly in their path to the north.  On either side of the center hill there are many boulders of varying size strewn between the strand of three hills.

The trio cannot really see beyond the hill directly north of their position, but they do not see anyone or anything other than the hills, scrub, and boulders atop this hill.  They remain silent for a moment and they can hear the faint noises coming somewhere from the north behind the hills in front of them.

Meanwhile, Koli keeps a grim eye on Hafkris along with Jono, Poricus, Jon, and Kelvan.  Melisana stands nearby the group and huddles inside her cloak.

Jon nods and adds, "Umberlee is all that is dangerous and cruel about the sea. Valkur is the God who guides good honest sailors and fisherfolk, watching over us and doing his best to protect us from Umberlee's anger and spite. My Da's a priest and follower of Valkur as well as one of the greatest Captains sailing these waters, and he is strong and wise, guided by the hand of Valkur to help and protect all who live and work on the sea. A better man you will not find, and if we make it that far, you would do well to beg his mercy and aid pirate. If convinced of your desire to change he could do much save both your mortal life and your immortal soul." Jon gazes proudly after his companions.

Arnould will make his way north-north-west towards the western cluster of boulders, taking cover there. Then he will wait a moment, hidden, trying to spot something and listen to determine where the sound comes from, or what it actually is, for that matter.

Shrugging as Arnould runs off to the NW without a word, I look to Vithar..." Well, I'm for those boulders there. What say you man?" as I indicate the southern group.

The blonde-haired young man looks confused and concerned as Arnould just moves forward without a word from their position, but the look quickly fades when Sterling talks to him.

"I'm with you," Vithar whispers loud enough just to be heard by his halfling companion.

He starts crawling on his belly across the ground toward the right side of the center hill on the rise.
