This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A sinister force, long thought destroyed, stirs from the black hole that spawned it. Like an ebony darkness it prowls the land and safety is but an illusion, for it watches from every shadow and ponders possibilities.

Evil broods and grows beneath those blasted stones. This is your chance to drive it back and scatter its forces again.

This campaign includes the village of Hommlet, the filthy shire of Nulb, and the ruins of the Temple of Elemental Evil and the labyriths that lie beneath, a warren of darkness. And beyond these ruins, even more is revealed.

So you're going to take a long, often tedious, slog and slow it down by a few orders of magnitude by doing it play by post?

It depends how it's played. If you try to run T1-4 strictly by the book, as the linear adventure it is not, sure it's going to suck. But it is absolutely one of the absolute best AD&D modules IF you run it as a sandbox and take the module as a starting point, not an end. Still, that's a hell of a long campaign, that's for sure.

My ToEE campaign is two+ years old.

I cannot wait for it to end.

Thanks for the comments!

Sure its going to be slow and long term.  All Play-by-Post games are.  Why would anyone want it to go quickly?

Personally, I've -never- wanted a campaign to end.  I've always enjoyed playing (and DM'ing).  I'm tired of the short term campaigns that end after a few weeks or months.  I'm looking forward to something that will keep me busy for the entire year, or two, or more.

I recently completed White Plume Mountain (play by e-mail) and it took 6 months.  We hated to see it end, so we're trying to get the DM to add on more to it.

I started playing D&D about thirty years ago, and we had the same group of kids playing in the Forgotten Realms for nearly ten years!  It was awesome!  Hopefully I can find others interested in a long campaign.

Again, thanks for the comments.  I appreciate your concerns, but my concern is that it will end too soon.

Good Journeys!

I'm with you i3d, I love games that go on for long term. I'd jump right in if I weren't already participating in 3 games here. My plate's a little full at the moment on the pbp front, but good luck with this :)

My cousin's (the one who actually introduced me to RPGs all these years ago) T1-4 game must be something like 25 years old by now, and still running, as far as I know.
