This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

"My concern was having a light to see by, carried by someone unencumbered enough to run and keep up with me if need be.  As to these fellows," here Ylarum gestures at his bearers and men-at-arms, "my chief concern is having men immediately on hand with spare equipment, and a vanguard for protection.  This pit is a furlong or so deep, and swift hands on yon windlass will at best put us all down there in an hour, perhaps.  Regardless, I'm going down first trip, whomever else comes must bring a light."

Ylarum begins to tie rope lengths to each of the four leg-posts.

"Liir, Dallow, Snave, Json, Tarm...you'll come down in later waves."

Rissthil helps other pull the make-shift basket up from the depths of the hole.  Once it's back on top, he gets into the basket with Runch.

As the basket is begins to be lowered he quips to the others, "don't worry, Runch and I will save some leftovers for you."

Let us hear out master dwarf as he spoke with the elf who has been down and back before making a plan in haste,we may need to adjust what we take down!?"

Othos calls down the hole after Runch: "Goblins and trolls!  They may possess some explosives!  Beware any unusual doorways until we are all gathered. We will speak more after the descent!"

Othos grins: "Well, look at that Ulas.  Thick as thieves, you and I.  It is a good thing indeed that times have been so lean on the road.  I think I've lost a few stone since I last left home.  Mayhaps I should visit the privy and shed yet another to guarantee our safe journey?"

"Not at all.  But we could all use a good laugh before facing almost certain death," Othos says as he watches the basket descend with the previous party.  He looks up with a wink and a smile.

Before continuing I look about for a pole that is near as wide as the hole as I can handle. I will cut something down if need be. I will use this to keep the basket from developing  a sway...
Throwing said pole (if I found one!) onto the basket first I climb carefuly into the basket "Thank you Rissthil." After I set my feet wide I extend my hand to help him enter the basket then crouching low, holding the pole between the ropes. I chuckle at Rissthil's quip as I get the balance of the contraption.

DM: As the Elf (Rissthil), sure. Remember standing near light sources do spoil your Infravision, however.

No, Rissthil isn't carrying any active light source.  He has a couple of torches in his backpack, but he doesn't have one in hand or currently lighted.
