This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ok, let's get Cranewings in before we get out of the village. This may mean a delay of a day or two so he can come up with his character.

Edit: Jarulf also wants in. It's fine by me. Let's give both of them a day or two to come up with chars, and then it's off to the monastery!

Cranewings

I half finished my character, but the SRD site is down for some reason. I'll try to get it tomorrow. Stats are 16,13,14,10,10,10 and a Charisma of 14 in there. He is a Greek named Agatone. I noticed everyone seems to have some spells, so if Open Quest allows it, not that I'm that far, he's probably going to be a strait up warrior.

Glad to have more folk in the game...welcome aboard!
OQ does not allow a straight up fighter as far as I could tell. I specialized as a warrior and still had to take some common magic spells(2 pnts. worth?). I am not very good at casting as I spent no points on the skill so just the basic chance. Am interested to see if there was something I missed in chargen
.

The setting is my Moragne setting. There's a partial write-up here: http://www.therpghaven.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=987 It's partial, but it covers the area you're starting in.

For the general feel, think early Norman England, about 12th century.

Engeram was born the second son to a noble in the North Country. His father was very wealthy – owning nearly as many cattle as the rest of his community combined. Engeram is close in age to his older brother, smarter, and taller by the age of 14. His father sent him to live at a monastery in order to keep him from interfering with his brother’s inheritance.

At the monastery, Engeram was one of the finest athletes. While not especially intelligent compared to many of the others, he became interested in history and spent a good amount of time reading about ancient battles and the exploits of ancient warriors. He didn’t care to return home, but he found life at the monastery stifling.

When he was 19, invaders sacked the monastery and robbed the temple. Engeram managed to preserve a few sacred relics by escaping with them into a tunnel. When the invaders left, he returned to find most of the young men dead, and only one of the monks surviving. He returned the relics to the monk, who used them to heal the survivors. Everyone who lived left on foot for another temple, all except for Engeram. He collected enough equipment from the two or three invaders who were killed and left in search of revenge.

Background

Jhan is the third son of Daffyd and Eileen in Carlaw. The Albwr is an extended clan of burghers and some free farmers, many practice various crafts. Jhan's uncle is a silversmith, there is distant cousin who is a trader and so on.
Jhan had served his father, a locksmith who specialises in simple mechanical devices and wind-up toys for the wealthy as apprentice for a few years. Through his uncle he became involved on the fringes of the Coiners Heresy, but has not taken the step to full membership. He received training as a burglar, he had many oportunties to visit the homes of the wealthy doing his father's errands, and used these to locate items of value. This information was then passed on to the Coiners. Later he would start using this information for his own benefit which resulted in stern reprimands and boring lectures about the common good.

When he showed little inclination to fall in line, he was sent away into the country to visit with distant relations, a poor knight of somber demeanor who, it was hoped, would bring some sense to the boy. Jhan stayed about 6 months before he decided his fortuned lay elsewhere. This was 5 years ago, and he has wandered aimlessly since then surviving by his skills.

Cranewings

A stout looking young man, about 6 feet tall, armed with the spear and shield of a foreign nation arrives in town on foot, ragged from the road. He looks to be about 20 years old, despite a touch of gray in his hair. With barely a glance to anyone, he heads strait to the nearest store, looking to purchase some rations with his last few silver coins.
