This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Drohem;439386Norel felt the urge to flee well up inside himself, but he forcefully suppressed that feeling once he hears Sighard.  He stands ready, and defensively, while Sighard makes his play against the ghost with the vial of holy water.

"Everyone else, get out!" Norel yells to his companions while he stands in front of Sighard to shield him while he gets the vial out of his pack.

"Brave Norel,I fear not the shades of the dead, Hiya"

backing towards the door but will stop short of going through...keeping the room environs under a keen scrutiny as I gain heart at the pluck of Norel and Sighard!

Alright, I was waiting for the top of round 3 before I rolled. And, Sighard is going to make a dash forward and try and pour the water on the Ghost (He isn't that great and throwing stuff).

Sighard moves foward and tries to pour the blessed water into the ghostly shape. Roll = 3. Close Combat skill = 58, so success by 55%

Sighard's holy water splashes the ghost, catching on its ephemeral form and hanging in the air for a second before turning to steam. The creature gives off an unearthly shriek and writhes. Paper, dust, leaves and other loose detritus swirls around inside the church, as a cyclonic wind streaked with black mist forms. Then the cyclone blows out the front doors of the church, and the spectre is gone.

Overhead, Dewin caws in agitation at the wind, but is able to hold onto his perch.

At the back of the church, the seated king's corpse laughs, as life twinkles in its eyes.

We're out of init here. The ghost is gone (Alric's mystic vision can confirm this), but the skeleton on the throne in the back of the church is laughing.

Alric peers closely at the skeleton on the throne, saying, "Hold comrades, I'm not sure this one presents an immediate danger..."

Mystic Vision tell me anything about this one?

Just what you have already. The skeleton has some sort of necromantic spell on it, and most of its gear is magical.

After laughing for a few moments, the skeleton settles down.

"How long is it now?" it asks. Its voice is close to that of a living man, not the unearthly screeching of the ghost.

Drohem

Norel watches the ghostly form whirl out of the church with a feeling of pure relief and wonderment.  Suddenly, that chill creeps back up his spine as he hears the dead king's laughter.  He turns to face the skeleton returning to a semblance of life or unlife.

Instinctively, Norel positions himself between the throne, skeleton, and his companions.  Upon hearing Alric's response to the skeleton's query, Norel holds his tongue and waits for the creature's next move.

Akrasia

Bryce backs away from the enthroned skeleton cautiously, waiting for a reply to Alric's query.

"I am Hrolf, son of Lud, the last king of the Greltae. I have been bound here since the kings of Therne burnt my hold and scattered its people like ash."

The Greltae are the Britons to the Thern's Anglo-Saxons and the Moragnians Anglo-Normans. A rough estimate would be a thousand years. You need to check either Culture (Moragne) or Lore (History) to pin down the exact date if you want to.

Quote from: Drohem;440927OOC: Norel's Culture (Moragnian) [24%] roll = 17%.  Success!

967 years, give or take a year. There's at least a couple of folks songs about Hrolf and his wars against the Thernish Kings (mainly King Gyrwulf, who found Therne and is kind of a Cnut figure).

Unworried about the talking royal skeleton Sighard sheaths his sword, but keeps the glass bottle in hand. Still overwhelmed by the spectacle just witnessed, he keeps quiet.

Is there any blessed water left or was all of it used to banish the ghost?
