This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Drohem

Taking a lead from his companions, Norel starts looking around for the source of the fresh air.

=================================

OOC: Norel's Perception (48%) check succeeds with a roll of 23%.

Whether a hidden passage or some unholy work, the draft comes up from under the throne itself. Though careful not to touch the king or his regalia, you can see a gap about as thick as the edge of a sword that must be its passage into this room. It runs around the lip of the stone dais the throne is set atop.

From outside the church, a strong wind blows directly into the room behind you through the front doors and windows. Though the half-twisted wall protects you from the blast, you can feel the temperature drop suddenly. Loose scraps of paper dislodge themselves from within the skulls begin to whirl around. Flames gutter and die if not shielded in time.

An unearthly chorus of babbling, cacophonous echoes fills the church., as a white mist begins to follow the wind in the front door...

Sighard makes a dash towards the front door, hoping desperately to close it in time.

If there's some kind of roll to be done, what should it be?

It's a sprint move to get there, and an Athletics test to shove the doors shut.

Sighard, as you approach the doors, a freezing gale comes pouring through them, driving you back. A thin layer of frost forms on the pews and stone near the entrance. The mist begins to thicken, becoming more lustrous and solid until after a moment or two, there is a figure standing in the door. As it appears, the wind dies down to nothing, though the temperature near to the figure remains chill.

He is covered entirely in an unadorned, white robe that drapes over his entire body loosely. It forms a hood over his face, covers his hands, and hands low enough that even his feet can't be seen. Roils of frozen breath leak out from under the robe's sleeves, hem and hood. Not a single inch of flesh can be seen anywhere. It stands in the entrance to the church for a moment, then takes a step forward, towards Sighard.

"LEAVE THIS PLACE," the figure commands, and its voice resonates more than any mortal's could.

ghasping as the temp drops and apparition forms....."By the one!" I draw back and take aim, holding the shot.
Form the group wisely, make sure you share goals and means.
Set norms of table etiquette early on.
Encourage attentive participation and speed of play so the game will stay vibrant!
Allow that the group, milieu and system will from an organic symbiosis.
Most importantly, have fun exploring the possibilities!

Alric shudders and stares for a moment before saying to the figure, "We wish to cleanse this place, and learn what befell the monks here."

Driven back by the freezing gale Sighard reaches into his pack and unlimbers his sword.

Drohem

By the Forge! Norel thinks to himself as he tries to choke down the fear welling up inside him.

He tries to speak, but it only comes out as a croak at first, so he clears his throat and yells in an attempt to hide his voice giving out slightly, "the living have dire need here.  Many innocent lives hang in the balance.  We cannot leave until we have what we seek!"

Pseudoephedrine

"GO BACK!" is the figure's only reply. It swings its arms together and a blast of frost blows towards the monks' skeletons at the altar. The figure dissipates into the cold mist, but one of the skeletons begins moving unnaturally. It makes an unwholesome hiss as it lurches to life.

Only one of the skeletons is moving right now. Its unarmed except for bony fingers. It goes at init count 11. Let me know what you're doing and what your initiative is.

A look of abject horror crosses Norel's face when he sees the skeleton start moving.  He quickly readies his ball & chain and shield and waits to see what the creature does, and if it attacks them then Norel will move to attack it with his ball & chain.

OOC: Norel's initiative is 9, and he will attack the skeleton when he gets a chance.

Akrasia

Bryce quickly communicates with his familiar: "My friend, do you see anything strange outside?  Some eldritch horror has appeared within this place!"
