This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

You slowly pack your things and creep down the hillside buffeted by the unnatural wind the entire time. Its unnatural character is emphasised by its failure to reach beyond the forest. It stops mere feet before the trees marking the terminus between woods and heath.

Overhead, the moon is a waxing, pale orb that sheds enough light for a crude re-establishment of camp, and you may settle down to sleep once more.

Fire down here on the heath? And is there anything anyone wanted to do before sleeping and waking up the next morning, or shall I move directly to it?

Unless anyone objects, then we should make a fire.  I'm cool with moving forward.

I say no fire but don't object if the others say yes.

Alric will silently accompany the group, responding when spoken to but otherwise remaining quiet and will support any choices made about where to stop and how to set camp.

Hi Guys,

I'm in the midst of a big move now, to be followed with annual Saturnalia festivities, so posting will be spotty (at best) for the next week.

The rest of the night passes without interruption, though the unnatural wind continues to blow throughout it. In the morning, you can see a light dusting of snow on the trees, though out on the heath with you it's bright and warm.

The snow actually makes it easy to retrace your steps, as does the path you knocked through the overgrowth last night as you retreated down the hill. Not only is the snow only within the forest's limits, but it affects only a small corridor, perhaps 100m wide, stretching from somewhere beyond your camp last night to the edge of the forest you're camped outside of.

Following it back up to the path again, you can see that the line of frost is at a shallow angle that cuts across the tip of it and follows you, rather than coating it. The path itself remains clear.

Am I correct in assuming you want to follow the path? If so, are there any precautions you're taking before you head down it? Let me know now if there are. ;)

Awakening with the dawn, Alric gathers his gear, saying, "I understand you fellows are planning to confront the spirits of this place, and wish to offer my services in this task, as I might be of some small use in such an endeavor, and as well I would feel safer to be in the company of other living souls, especially ones of such obvious competence, rather than continue alone. I would be grateful to be sure."

After packing gear...stamping feet in the frosty morn as our breath issues in plumes "I for one am glad to have another doughty traveller as companion. Welcome Alric, graced by the sun our path be true!" bowing in a traditional Dakon salutation.

As Norel is finishing adjusting the straps on his pack and his weapon belt, the dwarven warrior looks up to everyone and says, "does anyone know anything concrete about dealing with spirits?"

Turning to Alric, he smiles and says, "aye, I have no issue with you joining us, Alric.  You wouldn't happen to be a specialist in the supernatural, would you?"

I will instruct Devin to scout ahead of us as we proceed down the path, staying high up, darting above and below the trees, and reporting to me any sign of danger or trouble that he spots.

As Bryce readies his things for the day (including loading a quarrel into his crossbow), he looks at Alric and says, "You look vaguely familiar sir.  Perchance did you study at the University of Carlaw, a few years ago?"

"Welcome Alric, we are looking for a silver chalice in an old pagan temple." Sighard says, "It goes to help a village that has befallen hard times".

Throwing his pack over his shoulder and hefting the rest of his gear Sighard looks ready to continue on the journey.

Sigmund

"A worthy cause to be sure. What befell this village?" Alric asks as he squints into the morning light.
