This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The possibility of immanent ship-to-ship combat - if I manage to wakey-wakey! - has me thinking about Great Leap. Looking here [.doc file available here] it appears that Garon's maximum leap distance is 20 yards, with his average being 10. Can that possibly be correct? Or is the version on Harmsfam from ED2?

DeadUematsu

A 2 for Perception and a 7 for Initiative. Obviously, Coaul's suffering from sleep drunkness.

Engine

Chalk one up for the big dumb guy! Too bad there's probably a perception penalty for being dead asleep. ;)

Isil will be strapping on his armour, picking up his sword, and getting his spells ready. He'll wait for the others before heading up on deck.

Paul, should I be waiting for a post from you before I make a post, or am I good to go?

At this point it's quite clear the ship is under attack, but unclear just exactly how.  Everyone please tell me OOC what you'll be doing, and then feel free to make a single IC post describing these actions, but keep in mind that it is unlikely any of you will make too far from your quarters.

None of you, except Garon, clearly recall the way up to the deck. (Keep in mind this is your first time aboard an Airship, and you just woke up.  Your initial confusion will not last.)

I'll give you all a day to make IC posts then I'll start posting stuff. As always, feel free to add a little color to what I post, or fill in blanks I leave.

Garon will put on his armor, take up his sword, and cautiously lead the others up on-deck. His primary goal will be protecting Isil and Coaul, his secondary goal will be protecting the airship and her crew.

edit: And I'll do Wood Skin before I leave, also. Rank [1] plus Toughness [16, or step 7] is step 8, or 2d6.

2d6+0
5,6+0 = 11

So I add 11 to my Death and Unconsciousness ratings, for a total of 42/50. And my skin looks like bark! Which is good, I guess. ;)

edit 2: Oops. Forgot to re-roll the 6:

1d6+0
5+0 = 5

So the final Death and Unconsciousness ratings are 47/55. Go d20 Dice Bag!

Speaking of which, does anyone know of an ED-specific die roller? I keep forgetting to explode dice, and the d20 Dice Bag isn't really set up for things like rolling steps. Any suggestions?

edit: Well, earthdawn.com has one, but you can only copy + paste the result, not the raw numbers, which kind of sucks. I'll keep looking.

I apologize for the delay. I have been sent on several transportation runs in the last few days, all of which lasted much longer than my normal shift, meaning I haven't been getting home on time. I have the next two days off, and will get this caught up.

Again my apologies.

I have a map coming. Unfortunately I can't get access to the FTP site, so I have to have Engine do it.  As soon as it's up I'll add more.

Once the map is up Engine is Purple, Psuedo is Orange, and DU is Blue.

Engine

Crap. Trolls.

Uh, how do the odds look? Can Garon tell how many trolls, vaguely, we're looking at, including those yet to board? And how many fighting dwarves are there?

Serious Paul

13 combat trolls, the others-about 12 are needed to fly their boats, and man their cannons. Currently there 22 dwarves on deck, six are manning guns, six should be, but are defending their guns. The rest are armed, and generally armored dwarves-except of course, Junipero.

Engine

Garon would love to be smart enough to look around to see if any of those attacking are mages, but he's really just not that bright. Maybe that's something Isil would think to point out to him.

Indeed. Can I spend my action for the first round I'm up on deck sizing up the situation and then relaying my info to the others (including Junipero if possible)?

Specifically, I'd be looking for the following:

1) Who's leading the attack
2) Are there any mages/archers?
3) How are troops transferring between ships - grapnels, swinging on ropes, planks, etc.?
4) Where's the helm on this thing?

Per is 1d12. The roll is: 11

Of course.

Looks like, for now, that the largest troll on the deck of your ship (As soon as I get this map up, he's in in the middle.) is leading the attack.

Quote2) Are there any mages/archers?

None readily apparent. There are no bows visible on any of the ships.

Quote3) How are troops transferring between ships - grapnels, swinging on ropes, planks, etc.?

The first three leapt from their Drakkar. The rest have thrown grappling lines, and are getting ready to swing across.

Quote4) Where's the helm on this thing?

On your ship in the rear, on the aft castle. Currently manned by two dwarves.
