This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

You hear the sounds of spitting and hissing coming from behind the closed portal, while the door itself rattles in its frame from the attempts to open it.

"RRREEEOWW What are you doing in the cassssstle, interlopers?  Ssssome servants that haven't essscaped yet?  Releassse the latccch, and we will put in a good word with our Lord Richard, that he be leinient with you!" comes the clearly angry voice from behind the door.  "Don't be foolissshh, you cannot keep uss in here forever!"

At the moment, you have a fairly good grip on the latch, but the attempts from the other side are becoming more insistant.

Thraim takes the leather pouch holding the caltrops off his belt and readies to throw it right in front of door.

"Back to the tea room," Thraim says as he motions across the hall to Janet/Ogress' room.

Venosha

Semina moves out of the way quickly after the being behind the door makes his threat.  She moves behind Kagan and squats in a fighters stance.  She watches Thraim lay down the caltrops and over hears him say something about the last room they were in.

"I hope the latch holds," Semina states as she begins to move towards Janet's room.

Kagan stays in position for a little while, checking to see if the latch holds.

Sorry, rl issues looming.

Snorri moves in front of the door, avoiding the caltrops, taking up a position to be the first thing the enemy sees and take the brunt of their assault. "Hold cousin, I'm thinkin this doorway here be the perfect bottleneck through which to receive their assault", Snorri says with a grin, "Been gettin bored with all the talkin anyway."

As you move across the hallway, you hear the latch jiggle loose behind you and see the creatures swarm into the hallway.  Two of them yowl in pain as they step on the caltrops, and the others kick the rest out of the way to clear a path.  Almost simultaneously, you see the remaining six creatures emerge from the corner at the west end of the hallway, three of them lining up with bows.

The leader near the doorway calls to you, "Identify yourselves or face the consequences, intruders!"

Kagan turns towards the incoming party and puts a hand on his broad sword. His voices slowly raises, cold as a mountain water spring, deep as one of the many chasms of the Underdark. It remains poised and measured as the ritual words come out of his mouth: "I am Kaga Ma Zûl, Servant to the Burning Eye of the Flanaess, Emerald Hand of the Accursed, Instrument of the Gods!"

"I am no intruder. I am a guest of this Castle's masters. Who are you to ask questions of me?
"

"As I have doubts Prince Ssstephen will be returning anytime soon, I would sssay that our lord is masster of this cassstle, and I don't remember signing any invitations," hisses the leader in annoyance.  "However, this should be ssimple enough to clear up, if you will join us, I will send a message to Lord Richard Coeur de Lion D'Amberville"

It looks like there is a scowl or a snarl on the leader's face, you can't tell which.  He sweeps his arm towards the open door into the study.

Kagan reviews the options in his head, considering for a moment to resist and fight these unholy servants of the Castle's greater powers right there on the spot, but he is eager to meet this Richard Coeur de Lion d'Amberville. He wonders whether there is some sort of rivalry between the siblings d'Amberville, and if ultimately this is why the Gods decided his presence here was required - to end the petty fights between them, and bring about Incabulos' doom to the Castle's moat.

He pauses for a moment. The message. Maybe the Gods will provide guidance through the message's response.

"Send your message. What do you propose we do while waiting for an answer?"

Drohem

Thraim speaks up and says, "John-Louis Amber has given us permission to tour the castle and grounds.  Now, stand aside and let us pass."

StormBringer

The leader turns to Thraim, "I'm sure he has.  As it is unlikely that Jean-Louis is aware of his surroundingss, for all he knew he was handing over the keysss to Averoigne."

"As to the rest of you, you can await our master's reply in the ssstudy, if you please.  There are plenty of mice to chase in there, as well." his group makes some odd staccato hisses that you take for laughter.

Kagan keeps his dignified, carefully-measured countenance as he complies.

Drohem

Thraim slowly levels his loaded crossbow at the chest of the speaking cat-man and says, "I challenge your authority.  I'm not going anywhere with you, nor waiting for any message.  I will not be entering your lair.  You will stand down and let us pass.  If you do not let us pass,  you will suffer greatly this day, your last day breathing in this life.  Which do you choose?"

Benoist

At these words, Kagan stops in his tracks and waits for the outcome.

Venosha

Semina was standing with her back against the south wall as Kagan began negotiations with the big cats.  She still held a firm grip on her hand axe while the conversation took place, but thought about replacing it in case things went sour.

She keep her eyes upon the figures with the bows, and thought about getting her long bow out, just about the time Thraim made his intentions known.

"Well Snorri," she glances at the dwarf.  "Looks like you might get your wish," she mumbles softly.
