aaaa
Come now, no one wants to experience the awesome? (http://bp3.blogger.com/_iMHFyThpmMA/SJMbfc9pzaI/AAAAAAAAApc/H5tnhBNUn3E/s1600-h/Mutant+Future.jpg)
Hey, I'm down!
(first time I've checked the PBP sub-forum)
Here's what I rolled up:
Gorrup, mutant toad, lawful alignment
Str: 13
Dex: 10 (AC 6)
Con: 9 (34 hp)
Int: 11
Will: 8
CHR: 3 (I really rolled that!)
Physical Mutations (3)
Dermal Poison Slime (class 8)
Frailty
Increased Caloric Needs
Mental Mutations (1)
Teleport
Items
Studded Leather (30 gp)
Shield (10 gp)
Toad Tongue (1d8, Mutant Animal natural weapon)
Backpack (2 gp)
Gold Pieces: 38 (rolled 80 initially)
Gorrup was born on the marshy edges of Gygrax, a smelly, dripping toad man, and that is where he remained. Ultimately, even his own family abandoned him, he is so hideous to behold. He makes a bit of coin bringing bait to hunters and fishers, but he spends most of his time soaking in the sludge and eating anything he can get his hands on (cuts into his bait profits). Despite his social rejection, he is proud of his hometown and wants to help out. He used his money to buy some armor and a weapon and has now offered his services to the town. Though frightened, if he can find some allies, he is ready to investigate the infamous bunker of Dr. Sinferno.
Toad Man! Cool. Sorry I havent checked back in a while.
I'm working on a blogish site where the game may live. I'm looking to do an explored lands "sandbox" type game after the initial adventure. Just working on stuff now.
I'll send out some game blurbs on other sites to see if I can rustle up more interest.
Welcome aboard !
By the way is Gorrup missing his Wilpower score?
Cool! I was worried you'd left after getting no responses in a week. I can pimp this game on the other sub-forums in my sig if you'd like.
I'm all over the sandbox. Let me know when you get the blog up.
Willpower, willpower. Hmmm... Oops. Missed that. I guess because it didn't have a chart to go with it. I'll roll them bones and add it above. Thanks!
Yes, please pimp.
Done.
Thanks!
I'll get off my butt and start more recruiting here and other places. The blog site (http://decoucy.wordpress.com/) is up, and that is where the game will take place- just click on the Vault of Dr Inferno link at the top.
Thanks.
Hey, I might be interested in this. Never really had a chance to play MA / GW, so this is like a long time desire coming true.
Are there any houserules we should know about? Non-standard character creation rules? Any restriction on what races are available?
EDIT: You might want to recruit at Dragonsfoot, if you haven't done so already. Mutant Future would be right up our street.
Awesome! The more the merrier. I hope you join up, Premier. Gorrup's a lonely toad these days.
Premier- No houserules or special rules creation or otherwise right now. Just pretty much by the book right now. Feel free to roll up a PC. I am slowly extending the recruiting out across the internet. And welcome.
With Premier we have 3 players.
walkerp- do you wish Gorrup to have a natural weapon per the rules? He is a mutant animal, and while he doesnt have claws or a horn, he does have a tongue which could be a weapon...up to you.
Man, I'm really failing my reading comprehension rolls with this game. And I'm going to be running it at a con in October! But this is helpful preparation for sure.
Damn, skippy I want a natural weapon! Rollling... Yes! 6. I'm going to drop that bulky and thematically inappropriate "Long Sword" and use my heavy, wickedly fast tongue and if it's a Giant Carnivorous Fly that gets smacked, I eat it!
Thanks, DeCoucy. I'll edit that above.
I've rolled up two characters, but not sure which one to enter with. Maybe I'll just post both of them here and let my fellow players/DM decide.

Sir Warrington Minge (as he refers to himself), is a jovial, kooky, and decidedly slightly insane fellow. In in his late fourties or fifties, he's a tall man with dark, deep-set eyes and a carefully groomed, prominent handlebar moustache. His deep, sonorous voice and overexaggerated gestures lend some credit to his claims of being a well-travelled thespian.
Sir Minge wandered into Gyxrage some years ago, with a dusty cloak and two big dogs in tow. He proved rather addle-brained and a bit of a meddler, but one with a heart of gold and unfailingly honest intentions, qualities that have endeared him with the townsfolk.

Mister Rhodofresia – insistent on ,,Mister" – is a large orange bulb sitting on a ring of walking roots. A number of green-orange striped stalks emerge upwards from this bulb and carry leaves and sprouts. A few of these stalks have developed joints and opposable fingersticks. The thickest, central stalk holds a smaller bulb on top, on which grow a number of seeing-hearing-smelling flowers. It talks through a membrane and a hollow cavity inside the lower bulb.
Mister Rhodofresia crawled out from some wet coppice near Gyxrage in search of food to supplement its photosynthesis– small rodents, lizards, birds and insects, which it lures into its vicinity with pheromones, then drains of life energy with a deadly mental emanation. The locals were originally hostile to it, but quickly realised that Mister Rhodofresia can act as highly effective pest control during the warm, wet summers. In exchange for its services to the village, it has been given a few shiny coins, a few human weapons it can use with its manipulator stalks, and even fashioned for it a metal-studded leather jacket that covers its lower bulb and main stalk to protect it from larger, aggressive animals.
While Mister Rhodofresia habitually prays on small animals, it makes a notable exception to small fuzzy monkeys, which it's very fond of. Mister Rhodofresia would love to have a small fuzzy monkey as a pet, but understands that it would die the first time it tried to climb up on its poisonous stalks. The realisation that he can never have a pet small fuzzy monkey makes Mister Rhodofresia a bit sad at times.
Two nice concepts. I would vote for the mutant plant, but pure humans are a little underrated in Mutant Future. They arent as flashy but get some major ability boosts.
So you cant go wrong either way I think.
Mister Rhodofresia is awesome! But Warrington Minge, well let's just say OC, Premier, that I think we'll get along just fine (except for the "dries"). :)
Gorrup will ride with either.
Howdy again. walkerp and Premier, if you don\t mind check in over at the gamesite. (http://decoucy.wordpress.com/)
Our third player is whipping up his PC, and if you want you can discuss pregame preliminaries. (or whatever). I'm going to have some stuff about posting, etc up later in a day or so. So check in and get to know your party mate.
I'm shooting to start by the end of this week, and will roll with three players if we cant get any more- you can always try to finagle some retainers. Gorrup might have trouble in this :(
Anyway, September seems a good time to begin as summer is usually a bad time for PbP\s in my experience.
So will the actual play take place on your website (which is quite nice, btw) using a play-by-comment technique? I'm not familiar with it, but I'll read the rules when I get a chance.
Sorry if I havent been clear. The game will actually take place at my site. The format is essentially the same as play by forum games-answers are just made in the comments of a blog entry. An official update will take place say once a week, which keeps the story "neater" without the mostly aesthetic problems that occur when PCs post over each other, contradict each other etc..
I suggest that you take a look the Barrier Peaks RPG. (http://barrierpeaksrpg.wordpress.com/) Its one of the sites that inspired me to run this type of game. You each essentially respond and interact with one another in the comments, with the DM responding when necessary. Each week I will do a recap post to move the story forward and recap what just occurred.
Ideally I'd like Pcs to post every few days but I am flexible in regards to this.
Anyway,I'm making it sound more complicated than it is.
I can dig that. How do we handle OOC comments and meta-talk? Just keep it here or is there a separate place for it in wordpress? Or do we do it in the comments, with brackets or something?
Consider me interested. I just found this thread, and am pretty busy right now, but I'll try to roll up a character in the next day or two.
Hmm too late to join, too? I cant seem to acess the site, but I'd like to sign up.
I have to confirm that the blog is unaccessible. Says "the author deleted it". What gives?
Guess I won't be taking part then.
Wow. Short attention span there! These things take time, The_Shadow. We're building up a nice little roster. Be patient, young Padawan. I suspect he's re-jiggering the website, as he already changed the template once.
So, a week has passed and no news. What's up?
Yeah, now I'm starting to question my earlier optimism. DeCoucy? Hello? Did you blog negative things about Putin or something? I hope all is well out there.
This is shaping up as a bit of a mystery. Looked like he had put serious work into the blog, then it just disappears?
Well, even if it's now not possible to know if the game is actually starting sometime, even if I didn't count how many players already signed for the game, I'd like to join. I'm from Italy, so maybe I could go for a character which doesn't speak a great Common.
