This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Chugosh

"I'm not sure it is a good idea to spit our forces so soon," says the soldier.  "We should all go, or none of us."

Ari reflects on Brogar's words for a bit.

Moving close to him he murmurs, "Old man, neither you nor the good Father are much for quickly fleeing a battle. I confess that I hesitate to risk either of you against this likely cursed entrance. I have had few boon companions in my short life, and I count you and he among them. But, I must admit that my nerves do cry out for the company."

Stepping back, he speaks to the group, "If all are willing to risk the door at once, then so am I. Brogar and I can go in the first rank and screen the rest with our shields. What say you?"

Quobbles winds his crossbow, and readjusts his spear.

"Aye.  But let us proceed without haste."

OOC:  Quobbles will take the second rank.

Ari nods, "let's go then."

He then starts down to the entrance with the rest.

The party advances down the avenue between the statues at a cautious pace. No one is quite sure but it almost seems as if some of the statues blink from time to time. At the end of the path you are face to face with the great bronze double doors, they are engraved with images of various demons in their foul habitats. The doors sit dead center in the face of the building, which appears to be about 30ft in diameter, made of simple carved stone blocks with a domed roof.

pbj44

As the party approaches, Ari looks the doors over to see if there is some way to get them open, such as recessed handles and the like - if they are not already ajar.

AndrewSFTSN

Quobbles keeps darting his head round at the statues that seem to blink, hissing "gotcha!" under his breath.  Does he definitely spot any of them doing so?

Ari:
There are no handles on the doors, however on of them does seem to be very slightly cracked open.

Quobbes:
You catch one of the statues at the tale end of blinking, it is a grotesque likeness of some sort of humanoid dog creature.

AndrewSFTSN

"I'm going to go and look at this doggy fellow.  I don't like the idea we're already being watched."

Quobbles walks up to the front of the statue, and waves at it.

"Best keep those peepers closed, hound-man!" he calls to it.

Ari pulls open the door and looks in...

Arkansan

Quobbles:
The statue stands still as the grave now, with no evidence of its prior movement.

Ari:
Peering inside you are met by a consuming blackness, the sunlight from the partially opened door illuminating just a sliver of the room. What you see is a floor painted in a mural of the Prime Stars and their corresponding hells. A rather wide stair case leading down is dead center, above it is painted a particularly large an bright star.

pbj44

Ari steps inside with the others, then quickly lights a torch. Carrying the torch in his shield hand he approaches the staircase with drawn sword and looks down it. He will keep watch there until the others join him.

AndrewSFTSN

Quobbles shrugs in disgust and follows Ari.  He will follow with his spear drawn, but will always favour the crossbow/ranged attacks if he can.

OOC:  I really hate to do this as we are just getting started again, but I'm going to be away for 5 days from now.  DM or someone else, please run Quobbles as applicable.

OOC - no problem! Sorry, if I annoyed, I just really wanted to get inside! Cautious mode back on!

pbj44

Once the others are inside with him, Ari holds forth the torch at the edge of the staircase and looks down the stairs.
