This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

After explaining all that to Denny, Blinov indicates to Blanco that he'll do a reading for him if he wants. Blinov hasn't noticed any of the business with Jo, so Denny might need to clue him in.

Discreetly to Greene, "Well I wasn't wronged myself, Marshal, so I have no place to say a thing. Now if these young men may want to call in the law and report a good ol' fashioned ass whoopin' — by a lady no less — that is between them. But maybe I can scrape this tidbit off'n our plate."

Turns to look back and smile demurely to the burly twins, almost apologetic, saying, "I'm sorry to trouble you some. With all that tusslin' noise as I was a-powderin' off my sheen, I just thought someone got hurt is all. I'll leave you to your business as you choose now, and hope y'all feel better."

Turning back deferentially to Marshal Greene and speaking aloud for both groups to hear, "Marshal, maybe you can give them handsome boys helpful advice 'bout where to go from here with the law. I'm plum out of ideas, and last thing I want to do is put you out of your way, this not being your regular grounds and all..."

Gives the smiling concerned face to both parties, the twins get an extra helping of {now may be a good time to skedaddle} with theirs.

Denny

"I think after a reading like that I need a drink...."

Denny heads out to the vehicle...

"Whats going on Marshall, you're a long ways away from...Qtown"

Blinov:
Blanco claps his hands together after your reading for Denny, an amused look on his face. "You read your friend's past and future, as if it were no more complex than my "Open For Business" sign. Most impressive talents, Blinov."

He pushes back from the table. "As for the reading, I'm afraid I may have to postpone that. I have an urgent matter that comes to mind just now...but I will return shortly. Will you wait here a moment?" Blanco rises, towering over you, gives a shallow bow, and disappears into the backroom behind the bar. The bartender follows behind him.

You hear a low chuckle from nearby. It's the bully merc Monaz. "Oh boy, you really stepped in it now!" he snickers, shuffling over to you, hands placed on his large belt. Until this moment, you didn't even know he was paying attention to you--he seemed too busy harassing locals.

"Looks like you really impressed ol' 'Heathen Eyes' himself. Showed him just how powerful you are. But see, Blanco sees to it he's the only precog game in town. You think men like Blanco get where they're at just letting potential rivals wander free?"

"Here," he snorts, and hands you a strangely old-fashioned plastic calling card. "MONAZ. FOR HIRE." is what it says, followed by the merc's contact info. "If you need some protection down the line, I handle that sorta thing..."

"In the meantime, I'd suggest you skee-daddle before Blanco comes back..."

Jolene:
At your suggestion, Greene takes the twins aside and has a brief but animated discussion with them. Shortly thereafter they storm off, and the Marshal returns to you.

He shrugs. "I gave them a warning. Doubt they'll go after her again. I'm sure their friend Basanos is just planning his next protest or sit-in or what-have-you. He's fine."

"Actually, what I came to talk to you about...well, its also a little out of my jurisdiction, but the Titan Protectorate was asking me to seek your help. We suspect the woman your friend Blinov ID'd from the Golden Orb may be part of a larger problem..."

Denny:
Marshal Greene pauses his story to Jolene when he sees you. "Oh, hello. I thought I'd bring some more work your way. Is your psychic friend around, too?"

From the edge of your vision you see a drop-top hovercraft, the latest model, speed by heading in the direction of the amphitheater. You realize its getting close to concert time. The driver turns his head briefly to toss a coffee cup out onto the street. Even behind those glasses you recognize Coy Lewiston, the son of your father's rival. There is a girl in his passenger seat, but you can't see her face.

Low and closer, "Basaros, you say? Marshal, I think you got more than a few tidbits runnin' off your plate onto the table. A woman handlin' two strappin' farm lads like that is not what I'm used to seein'." Leaning in to whisper, "And if he's plannin' another protest sit-in, he's been doin' it lost to all kith 'n kin for 'bout five days now.

"Do you have their names and contacts? We both might need 'em later. And if they don't use better sense from here on out, dental records, heaven forbid." Serious sideways look into Marshal Greene's eyes.

Backing up from tete-a-tete, "Two dangerous women, and one right after the other. But pay me no mind, Marshal. I'm a big, ol' sucker for patterns," innocently smiling. "Might even do me a little shoppin' for such as we're here in 'high up Jessup'."

Blinov smiles at Monaz, "Call it precog intuition, but I get the feeling I actually want to see where this is going. Tell you what, I know you just made that offer for 'down the line' but how much would it cost for you to sit in front of me now for a little while and make it really implicit that I'm not to be trifled with, eh? Got an hourly rate?"

Mr. Kent

Jolene:
Marshal Greene seems intrigued. "Really...you know about the Manny Basanos case? Hm. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. You Perimeter Agents seems pretty on top of things," he says admiringly. He shares the twins' names--Larry and Ari Eck--and the woman's name--Chandra Domaine. "I'd love to further discuss the Basanos case, if you're free sometime."

"I'm going to send you the files I have on the job I'm offering--I'll need to know by tomorrow if you'd like to take the assignment, so feel free to discuss it with your partners." He nods cordially. "I'd better head back to Q-Town, uh, before I get involved in any other local messes."

Blinov:
Monaz grins. "You got fifty creds on you? I'll stick around until you leave this fine establishment, make sure they get the message." He crosses his arms and looks at you eagerly.

The bartender emerges from the back room first, pausing when he sees you talking to Monaz. He stands at the bar and waits until his boss joins him. The barman turns to whisper something to Blanco, and Blanco nods.

Blinov gives Monaz 50 cr and looks at Blanco, one eyebrow raised, knowing but not hostile, like he's still willing to talk.

Denny

"Excuse me Marshall, I see an old Accquaintance...."

Denny approaches the dropship

(( Would Coy recognize Denny? ))

Denny pretends to admire the vehicle...running his hand down the side, and says

"Ahhh a 3200 Qevy.... Does have the Updated Phasotron schematics for Auto-steer...?? "

Blinov:
Blanco approaches Blinov, and Monaz takes a step closer. "Lovely place you have here, Mr. Blanco. I'm surprised you keep it so clean, what with all the dangerous types coming through here," Monaz says with his deep voice. It doesn't sound quite like a threat, but just imposing enough.

"Ah, you know, Blinov, as a psychic, you really should have seen this coming," Blanco laments. "I was absolutely impressed by your power, and I predict truly great things for you--as long as you stay out of Jessup. If I see you around my establishment again, my hand will be forced, I'm afraid, and I'll have to do to you what I've done to every other psychic I've met on Qetesh."

He pauses, hoping it sinks in. "I'd like to trust you, but...even the slightest outlier can introduce chaos. And I simply can't abide chaos, least not any chaos that I haven't personally predicted."

He gets out his compad and begins to send you his contact info. "That said, I'd be happy to do business...from a distance. If you have need of anything I can help you with while you're...well, far from here, please let me know..."

In the front of the room, you can now clearly tell that the bartender has a small weapon of some kind just peeking up from behind the bar.

Denny:
The craft idles as Denny pretends to gawk at it. "You know it, bro," Coy Lewiston says. "Nothing but the latest and best off the boat from the capitol planet." He looks you over cautiously, but doesn't seem to recognize you, or if he does he doesn't let on. The young lady in his passenger seat looks familiar, assuming you've gotten a good look at Blinov's old street urchin friend, Nia Tran. Nia is quite made up, looking like she's ready for a night on the town. She smiles at you gently, then tugs on Coy's sleeve--the concert beckons.

"What kinda ride you working with, man?" Coy asks you a bit condescendingly. "This has got the works." He arrogantly pops the hood, exposing the inner workings. Nia rolls her eyes at his show of machismo.

Blinov looks disappointed. "Sad it's going to be this way. Lots of opportunities getting thrown away. Whatever." He takes the contact info. "Of course I had my suspicions, but sometimes you want to test the limits of precog, you know? See if the universe might be a better place than your past and your powers predict."

He motions for Monaz to follow him out of the joint, since he still has him on hire for the next 50 minutes or so.

"I'll get out of the area as soon as my associates are done. You be safe Mr. Blanco, and I really do mean that. The future's a funny thing. Enemies can become allies and vice versa and all that. Keep your options open."

Blinov, with Monaz in tow, rejoins the others to see what they're up to.

Mr. Kent

Blinov:
Monaz grabs a handful of peanuts from the bar before following you out. You emerge to see Jolene speaking with Q-Town's Marshal Greene, who immediately gives you a nod of recognition. Denny is over by some hovering hotrod talking to its rich kid driver. And...you see Nia in the passenger seat. She sees you and looks a bit embarrassed, urging the driver to get going.

"Ah, Blinov. I just sent Jolene the info for a job I have for you, concerning the woman you reported seeing at the Orb." He looks over at your hireling curiously.

"Ah, anyway, we saw the suspect discard evidence--the dead marine's pipe, you remember. We wouldn't have found it if you hadn't steered us in that direction. Well, our lab workers identified something...ah, well it's a rarity, that's for sure. It's a toxin that predates the fall of the Mandate. Pretech..."

Jolene and Denny:
You see Blinov closely followed by that blowhard from inside. Monaz is stuffing peanuts in his mouth, and the crumbs are all caught up in his beard.

Denny:
You hear Nia mention that the concert will be opening its doors soon. "Don't worry babe--that's what VIP passes are for," Coy Lewiston assures her.

To Marshal Greene: "Sure, I'll see this thing through." he tilts his head toward Monaz, "My consultant when dealing with Blanco."

To Nia: "Hey pal, how's it going? You know, call it MESS intuition, but I get the weirdest feeling there's some kind of block between us lately. Got anything you want to get off your chest? I'd love to hang out with you guys after the concert to do the recap."

He flashes a winning smile.
