This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Shipyard Locked

When a few spare hours present themselves, Blinov would like to make discreet inquiries about where Nia is getting her money and how he can get in on the action.

Quote from: Mr. Kent;765037You stop off at Dolly's for a quick lunch. She offers up some crispy fritters with Thalian herbs. YUM!

Tickets to the Deadhog concert are available at UnLocal, the club catering to offworlders. In an offshoot dome you find that the place is still quietly prepping for its evening business, but the girl at the front desk is selling tickets--well, the few tickets that are left. They run for 75 credits apiece. You see from UnLocal's marquee that S'MOOV is playing here tonight--they open for Deadhog at tomorrow's show.

OOC: - 75 Credits for Denny's Ticket

With all errands in Q-Town taken care of for now, you take a short drive to the Amity Family Farm. A young lady in overalls greets you, setting down her tools and emerging from an oxygen tent. She smiles eagerly at you through her translucent oxygen mask. "Are you the Perimeter Agents?" she asks. "I'm Katie Amity! I'm surprised Dr. Nadir responded so quickly--oh, a good kind of surprised, I mean! Please come in! The qweevils are riled up something terrible today!" she warns you, and ushers you into the farmhouse.

Denny makes sure he grabs his revolver out of the truck in case any qweevil's get fiesty...

We'll wait for Blinov's scene with his friend to finish up before moving on to this...

Blinov:

You ask around at Nia's regular haunts, at least those you are familiar with, and ask where she might be getting her steady credits. The Prairie Dog's barkeep thinks she has a sugar daddy in another dome, while some farmers lunching at Dolly's suspect she has something going with Newsun-Matsuri.

Blinov pursues the Newsun-Matsuri theory with deeper inquiries around town using his precog powers to tell him when he's about to push his luck and stop asking questions. If necessary he'll spend a few credits and/or give the impression he's willing to do whatever kind of work Nia is willing to.

Your search turns up a lot of deadends. Even discussing NME is a polarizing topic, and most folks just aren't tuned into any possible "job opportunities" NME may offer.

Finally, the Dance Hall yields a result, as a man in a workman's jumpsuit and a large black cowboy hat doesn't immediately squirm at the mention of NME. His voice is hoarse, almost unintelligible. "Dnce hll, thrree dyss frm nww. Bhh hrr," he grunts, pointing down to the floor, and gives you his contact info. "Nya Trn, sh wun uff mm grrls. Ull tkk gdd cur uyyu."

The day grows late, and no one else feels like discussing NME...

Unless there's any objection from the group Blinov will try to make that appointment to rustle up more info. Let's deal with other issues for now.

RookieRPG

OOC: No problem at all with that..3 days at the dance hall I'm sure our wonderful GM/DM/ST whatever he is..will remind us...shall we move on or is there anything JOJO wants to finish up w/ in town?
Tarawa: IC

Mr. Kent

OOC: GMDMST works for me! ;) Or just GM heheh

By the way Shipyard, the raspy cowboy's contact info doesn't give his name, but a QNet user handle, TinyDancer33. Also I will indeed remind everyone when the time comes!

OOC: Any objections to moving on to the Amity Farmstead w/ the transmitter??
Tarawa: IC

Mr. Kent

Katie Amity cheerfully leads you all into the farmhouse. As you enter, the "porch"--a front room with large ceiling-to-floor windows--is littered with pieces of pipe which look like they've been chewed and clawed up.

"This is...er, was our irrigation system," Katie laments, gesturing to the gnawed tubes. "Darn qweevils just eat through anything--I don't know what's gotten into them! They never used to come 'round, but something's got 'em all agitated..."

Well Mrs. Amity, what do you think the problem is...have you started doing anything new around your homestead or your farm?

"Denny takes a look over the apparently broken Irrigation System"

OOC: Postech check on the irrigation system to see what it needs to fix

" Well do you mind if we take a look around and see if we can see anything out of the ordinary?"
Tarawa: IC

Mr. Kent

"No, I can't say as I've done anything differently," Katie says, thinking hard. "Well, I guess lately I've noticed some sort of...rumblin', I guess? Figure it's from the spaceport, so what can you do? But ever since I noticed that slight trembling in the ground these qweevils have been coming up right into the fields!"

She shakes her head and throws up her hands. "Feel free to look all over if you need to..."

Denny:
Luckily, you've seen these exact kind of pipes all your life in your dad's shop! You recognize right away that the tubes are used in a system of "subsurface textile irrigation", where the H20 is fed directly into the soil. The drip emitter, which regulates the water flow, is totally broken open on this pipe. A simple patch won't do--it has to be resealed and re-installed...

"Rumblin'? That sure is strange for a peaceful farm like this. Has your family talked about a history of earth shakin' over the years? And can ya point out where've been the pipe damage, and over what time?" Jolene gives a sympathetic frown as she digs out her compad.

"If I can collect enough data, maybe a map of the farm with points where and when these qweevils been doin' harm, we can get a sort of pattern. And then hopefully the good doctor can research that and make sense of it." Opens up a new spreadsheet file to track time and place on tables, and a new voice record word file to quickly gather notes. "You happen to have a lot survey on file to help us make a map visual?"

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

" Yup, you got yourself a bad drip emitter... I could replace it for you but it will definately cost...of course there's no point in fixing it till the Qweevil situation gets resolved..let me just take a closer look"

OOC:As I look closer I'm going to try to find a way to conceal the Emitter into the Irrgation pipes, where it wont get noticed, or wet,or damaged or easily removed
Tarawa: IC

Mr. Kent

Jolene:
Katie Amity looks at you thoughtfully. "History of shaking? No, not really. Daddy said that way back, hundreds of years ago like, you'd have occasional quakes. That was the qwurms, y'see. Big, giant things, that made all the tunnels beneath our feet. But since they went extinct…nope, no quakes in a long time."

She looks around the nearest desk. "Hmm. Survey stuff, huh? Daddy left for Clio on business, but he left behind a bunch of documents that might help you out." She finds a printout map of the farm, which is easily scanned into your pad.

Denny:
Hmmm…it seems you could hide the transmitter in the drip emitter. Before you reseal the dripper you could place the transmitter inside…

(OOC: I hope to have a diagram of the farm tomorrow!)
