This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

OOC: Does Denny see any kind of interesting postec items/equipment lying on Ijima's Desk? Maybe a trinket of sort...something he would be familiar with??

"Well Ms. Ijima Captain Aleksander sends his well wishes, however he was detained on another vital assignment at the moment, so sorry he couldn't be here to speak with you himself, was there any message you wanted us to deliver to him?"

"Thank you kindly Iijima for personally being here to help us settle this little matter." Jolene smiles ingratiatingly with closed eyes as she tilts her head to the side. Turning to the tall, thin, dark android?, "And don't fret, as time will get the best of us all. Especially if y'all have been so terribly busy of late." Walks tentatively up towards tall, thin, dark android? and offers her hand in a ladylike fish handshake, "Pardon my addressing you without name, I'm Jolene."

(After introductions)

"But a lone error after decades is a record to envy, if I may say so." Turning back to face both, but squinty eyes more attentive to Iijmia "Sorry to catch y'all in such a time, but you know how money misunderstanding can fray friendships. Speaking of which, I think you've made a positive impression on my colleague, Alexsandr."

"Maybe when you have some downtime we all can re-cement our connections, over a tall cold one perhaps?" Turns around to back up to her companions, then turns facing NME reps again, "Well, no need to chew your ear off as y'all are burning the candle at both ends. Oh, one last thing. You wouldn't mind if we took this prototype and market it locally now, would ya? Just small market stuff, y'know, as y'all don't need this build like you used to." Ingratiating smile and happy slits for eyes are plastered upon a practiced face.

Mr. Kent

Blinov:
You peek surreptitiously at your cards, flipping one over. The holographic image flickers to life. A young man, looking probably around your age or Denny's, stands at the top of a hill. He's breathing deeply as if nearly exhausted. Arrayed around him are six rods or staves jabbed into the dirt. With a triumphant look on his face, the young man hoists a seventh stave high above his head.

Denny:
You spot a musicube, a miniature recording device and music player popular in Kazo and a lot of the non-Core worlds. The thing gives off a flickering light show when it plays any of the hundreds of songs stored within. Due to its visual and audial nature, its frequently used as a stress relief therapy.

Iijima seems placated at the mention of Aleksandr. "Oh, the commander mentioned me, did he? Well, I guess you could tell him that the offer still stands. For any of you, really--Newsun-Matsuri is always hiring freelancers!"

An armed guard emerges from the hall with a large case. "Ah, here is your x-cell prototype," Iijima says, gesturing for the guard to place it on the desk before you. She shoves aside the musicube to make room for it. "I would have delivered it myself if I'd only known Dr. Nadir's address. Where does the doctor stay these days, eh? Is he close by?"

Jolene:
After a surprised pause, the "man" shakes your hand. His fingers are lifelessly cold, confirming that he is indeed an artificial lifeform. "Jolene…I'm Numen," he introduces himself. After pulling his hand back, his golden eyes flit rapidly. "There…I have transferred the correct credits to your commpads electronically."

OOC: All told, the full transfer totals 835 credits for each of you! Don't let all that moolah burn holes in your pockets! ;)

Iijima and Numen look at each other when you mention taking the X-cell to the market. "Err…of course…who am I to tell you how to run your business?" Iijima says, forcing a small smile.

" Wow a Musiccube! I used to build these things with just a couple power cuplinks and old B cell wiring off Agriquipment on the farms... Let me show you something"

Denny in his  'excitement' grabs the musiccube as they push it aside to make room for the X-cell...He also grabs his postech Kit out of his backpack and Tinker's with the Musiccube

OOC: I'd like to make a POSTECH check here to see if I can successfully enhance the Musiccube or adapt it to do something different that would awe/amaze Ijima,My intention here howerver is  to have Denny actually be looking over Ijima's desk out of the corner of his vision though for any documents/papers or information that could tell us about what they're up to underneath the town..or any other relevant intel....ps: If I'm rolling it myself I got...5 (but maybe your prefer to do your own roll... mine is in the starswithoutnumber room @rolz)

Jolene does a wide-eyed, clutch the pearls motion with her rictus of a smile still plastered on. "Oh my!" Giving into a touch of the vapors, Jolene hyperventilates while meeting the eyes of Iijima and Numen. "He's new, and quite eager, and a tinkerer extraordinaire as the good doctor said."

Hesitating from shock and trying to tactfully extricate Denny, she slowly approaches him. "Denny dear, Denny?" She turns to Iijima and Numen with eyes imploring patience. "I know you mean well, honey, but they haven't acquee-esced." Turns back to NME reps mouthing 'I'm so sorry,' and returns to Denny bending over the musiccube and facing him trying to break into his focused gaze.

Nodding slowly while trying to hold eye contact, "Best be careful and break nothin', dear. And perhaps it's better to put it all back together for another time." Straightens up and turns to address the NME higher level staff. "Our friends here are right busy, as they've already said. The finer points of musiccube modding might make for good conversation later." Jolene gives a concerned motherly face and pats Denny's back gently before her hand flutters back to her throat.

OOC: Jolene will likely give into her flustered state and bid a hasty exit with her group without answering where Dr. Nadir now lives. Useful cover, but she'll only recognize it after the fact.

Trying to stay focused....

" Just a sec JoJO, you gotta see what these things can do "

OOC: Once the information if any is retreived from Ijima's desk Denny will  put away his tools and take JoJo's lead on the exit....

Mr. Kent

Denny:
You grasp the musicube in your hands and begin to fiddle with the tiny polygon. Iijima looks surprised, and slightly annoyed, but makes only minimal effort to stop you. "Oh, that's fine," she says, trying to wave you off. Music begins to play--pleasant, droning, ethereal. Not all aggro like churndrop. You (as well as Blinov) recognize this as cryptopop, and delicate trance style crafted by the Ssath. It almost sounds like gently dripping water at some parts.

Then your tool slides across something small on the cube's side opening, and the pleasant drone becomes an loud BZZZZTTTTT--you've accidentally amped the audio! Numen watches, seemingly amused as Iijima clasps her hands to her ears.

Sliding her chair from the desk, Iijma knocks a few folders on the office floor. In your secret scan of the desk, you don't see much. Something like finance ledgers--likely dealing with Numen's accounting error. Also, you spot the corner of something before it drops off the side of the desk--something resembling an x-ray of a bone.

Jolene:
Ran Iijima doesn't make out a single word you said. Numen seems to hear you, though, and nods genially. The guards poke their head in the office to inspect the loud noise, and stand at attention, but can see that there's no emergency, merely a musicube malfunction.

The sound begins to fade as the guards escort you from the office.

Blinov:
Numen looks at you and pats the x-cell prototype, reminding you to take it with you.

" THANKS ALOT WE'LL KEEP YOUR OFFER IN MIND!!"  Denny yells back to Ijima as he is escorted from the room....

Once out of earshot of the guards and Numen he says

"Well talk about first impressions's, I'm sure we'll be hearing from them for some of those free-lance contracts..."

He walks on as he hears Muffled Cryptopop Trance music coming from behind the closed door of Ijima's office...

"Well where to next?  Didn't you say you had somewhere to be JoJo?"

"Did you see that X-ray Pic on her desk...Wonder what that was all about?"

OOC: At the first opportunity I think we should go fill our airtanks, before all the business' close,as well as meet up with anyone yall met from your first trip here... and I'm pretty sure Denny wants to get his hands on some D4ad80G Ticket's first chance he gets, now that he has a little money to work with...

As Blinov walks with the others he gives the x-cell prototype a quick appraisal. What condition is it in?

Mr. Kent

You stop by a public bench to set the case down. When you open it, the x-cell prototype  seems intact. Further examination is required to see if its still fully operational.

"Hey Denny, can you just give this a quick look over so we know everything is as it should be?"

" yea give it here I'll take a look at it..."

"I should have the schee-matics on my compad, let me fire it up and help make sure i's'all there." While digging through her bag, "Lord, Denny, what am I going to do with you. And in public no less." Fixing her compad and about ready to assist, she shoots him a look, "Wha'd'you think you were doin' back there? Cuz I sure as hell would like to know next time you feel the need to make a show. Least we could do is provide vocals and a tambourine."

Shakes her head, and sorta snort laughs, but tries to cut it short like she don't much care for being the fool. "Let's get to work before we refuel O2 tanks and grab lunch, now..."

You all lean over the prototype as you compare it to the schematics from Jolene's compad. Everything seems to be in place, all parts accounted for--with an extra piece, in fact! Buried deep, deep within the x-cell there is a small, round item, about half the size of a musicube. It is metallic and iridescent with external wiring, and seems to be some sort of transmitter.

(OOC: Opa and Shipyard, I've added the 835cr to your wikis :D Now we'll subtract 115cr Each for the refill of oxygen at a local shop plus your lunches.)

Blinov immediately signals for everyone to stay quiet. He writes "Is that a bug?" on his compad, shows it to Denny, and then says, "Well, looks like everything is in order, right?"
