This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

"Your off to settle down for breakfast, Denny. I got day old flapjacks that need eatin, and my gravy'll need a pardon, but bring your hunger and make the best of it. I'm a whippin up some eggs, biscuits, and ham to round out my embarrassing leftovers. Be kind, m'kay?"

Jolene already has Spanner's place set up, and plans to give a heaping portion as thank you to his thoughtfulness for her green gem xeno-gift. She does not feel she has the time to safely study the object today, but she's planning a time to hit the lab in full force with it. {"Why sugar, ain't you just an angel? Rememberin us when you're away... I'm gonna make sure you get a down home breakfast to welcome you back." Remembering her words of thanks to Spanner, she hopes he likes it. Maybe if she ever goes off-world she can return the kindness, as he loves the strange and new.}

Blinov's ominous warning leaves her ruminating as she cooks. No longer sure whether an initial check on the extermination job will be all that safe, she's wondering how to use her time today wisely. She has to visit those eager young men from Acherai tonight, perhaps a nightclub filled with dancing and other pretty women might put them off. What could she do today that is not so intensive so she can survive the night? I'll ask Blinov for a good mix of dance clubs tonight.

Hopefully we staff can plan over a good breakfast.

Blinov mentally reviews his street waif lore of the local nightclub scene. Which one(s) would suit Jo-Jo's needs best?

Mr. Kent

Spanner awakens to the smell of breakfast, and he pokes his head out his room with a wide grin. "HAM," he says abruptly and excitedly. "Jolene's cooking? Score..." He sits down appreciatively at the table. He plops down next to Blinov and reaches for the syrup.

Modia emerges from the Orrery quietly, roused by Spanner's loud excited laugh. Despite the fact that she doesn't eat, the robot approaches the table curiously.

Blinov thinks over his knowledge of Q-Town's nightclubs. There's really only a few recreational dance places, and two that come to mind as best choices.
  • The Dance Hall, which is frequented by farmhands and other laborers, is probably the most popular and active with locals. This would be best for a taste of downhome Qeteshi fun.
  • There is UnLocal, a nightclub in the offshoot dome near the amphitheater, which mostly caters to offworlders and immigrants. This offers a sampling of dance and music styles from all across the Core Worlds.

Denny grabs some of Jo-jo's homecooking and pops a squat

" I think we first need to establish our priorities... What has to be done today..? What  should be done today... And what could be done...? I just started working here so maybe yall could fill me in..."

Looking to the kitchen entrance, "Alexsandr must be sleeping in still." Giving Blinov a conspiratorial side glance and grin, "Think Ms. Iijima tuckered him right out? He sure pulled into a straight flush over on us, didn't he. Full of surprises I bet he still is." Serving out ham and scrambled eggs from the center serving plates to others in an attempt to cover her inside joke, Jolene tries to change the subject.

"You're dern right, Denny! No time like the present to roll up our sleeves and catch up with roosters and dawn." Starting to get up and set aside breakfast servings for those who currently have not arrived yet, she busies herself trying to recount what was learned. "Well first, NME hasn't paid our good doctor his ree-siduals, and we needed to check on them hens to see why they ain't layin no more. Seems like NME is on a new big energy project, and going to be doing some experiments, like since last night..."

The recounting continues, letting Blinov or Spanner jump in what they can fill in. "So apparently Asherai is just another farming planet, but filled with religious rules and they can't do nothing, no way, no how. Poor dears flee to just get a taste of their cider before they return to mashin apples." Continues about how such wilting flowers those fresh faced guard lads were, and what a riot of not right shamelessness Jolene herself was. Alternating from enjoying herself to being right serious, she gives away her conflict between joking about pulling one over someone and being mistaken for a 'loose woman.'

"Clio is the big banker planet that funds big guys like NME and small farmers alike. Given their money market needs and NME's cosy company store setup with Qetesh and Titan Protectorate gov't, the little guy ain't got a chance. That's when Blinov and I were waitin all up for Alexsandr to do his 'reconnoiterin'..." At this she tries to suppress a titter as she nudges Blinov in the back in one of her regular busy sweeps around the kitchen. This continues until Denny is caught up.

OOC: Is there any quest in particular you're seeking more info on, or just what we accomplished yesterday, in game time? You can do a few Out Of Character questions here and we'll fill them in here as to get you up to speed.

Blinov informs Jo-Jo of her nightclub options. Meanwhile he surreptitiously observes Denny's eating, seeing what he can learn of his personality and approach to life from the way he goes about it.

Mr. Kent

"MFFH! Ww sww th twwks!" Spanner mumbles with his mouth full of ham. After swallowing, he clears his throat. "Oh, we saw these trucks, when the Commander and me were hanging out by the spaceyard. All these trucks goin' into the NME warehouse, full of big stuff and coming out empty. Couldn't see what they had, though."

"Then me and the commander went to see Iijima at the Golden Orb. She didn't like me much, but she sure took a shine to the Commander. It's...like, it's so clear the lady hates it here. I think its the heat, from how she was fanning herself. All she could talk about was her homeworld, Kazo. That's a cold planet, I think? Never been there myself..."

Modia subtly spots Blinov looking at Denny. She tilts her head and begins to quietly watch him too.

Denny is piling all of his stuff together, he loves it when everything is touching..half a flapjack is covering up all the eggs, the ham is laying flat under the biscuits, and gravy poured over everything... when he takes a bite gravy gets all over his hands, knife, and fork..he licks it up like a dog...Suddenly he gets the feeling he's being watched,

..." It all goes to the same place n'eway... , Now I don't know where yall come from but, when someone owes someone a buck or two you pay up. I think we ought march on over and get some moneys..."

OOC: I guess I'm just trying to see what you guys want to do first, and where we want to go next, i have read through everything but it's easier to remember the stuff I've been a part of rather then what all happened before Denny Showed up on scene

Blinov looks away just before Denny catches him, but in the process makes eye contact with Modia and realizes what it was doing too, probably because of him. The synthetic's unblinking (blink-incapable!) gaze always makes his neck twitch, so he awkwardly looks away again with a very slight chuckle at himself, it, and the situation.

(OOC: Shall we timeshift ahead to Q-Town? As I said, the qweevil-infested Amity farm is between Base and Town, probably a bit closer to Town, but if you wanted to start with the meeting in town it wouldn't take much to check it out in the mid-day and end the day with some clubbing!)

Denny gets his nice clothes on...a green d3a8h3g shirt, with blue stripes...check's over his oxygen tank and grabs his gear...looks like he's ready to go

Commander Aleksandr awakes and gets ready to go. This reminds Spanner. "Oh yes--Ran Iijima said  that NME hires freelancers for special assignments. When she was all but throwin' herself at the Commander, she strongly hinted that she wanted him on her...payroll."

Modia and Spanner wave you off as you pile into the pick-up truck. Nadir is still asleep and Dr. Ling is busying herself with med supplies in the storage room.

(OOC: We'll assume Aleksandr is with you all--Please subtract 2 Hours of O2.)

As the Q-Town dome rises over the horizon before you, a ship roars overhead--by the timing you can tell it's the shuttle to Clio, carrying Gordy Shane and countless other dreamers seeking loans on the banking planet. Before long you're pulling up at a large lot near the spaceyard, halfway between NME's office and the Golden Orb hotel. Town is much quieter this morning what with all the farmhands off to work...except for the Golden Orb, which is swarming with the blue and white uniforms of Protectorate police.

The NME Office is lightly guarded by comparison.

OOC: I'm assuming now that we're in the dome I can leave the o2 tank/vacc suit etc in the truck?

Due to the large amount of Blue and white, Denny Leaves his Revolver locked up in the pickup, He throws his pos-tech kit and binoculars into his backpack, throws his leatherjacket on and straps on his survival kit belt

.."Better leave "piglet", too many QPP around"... says Denny As he hides his gun in the pickup

"Ok, so I'll be honest with yall, I'm not a very outgoing person OOC: Cha= 6 ;( ... So I'll be hanging back, and letting yall do most the talking.. If I'm feeling frisky I might say "HI" to someone...but I got yall's back...not sure if it's shift change or if somethin'g up, but there sure are alot of QPP over there at the "Orb"..."

"Well now, what'd we'all decided to do now here?" Jolene asks the group. "Making nice with the Qetesh police wasn't what I had in mind, and NME is rather open all friendly like, but on what terms did Alexsandr talk to Ms. Iijima 'bout ree-siduals?"

She looks about then turns and pauses, hoping the rest of the group pauses likewise. "If they seem to have no interest in paying us back, and are lookin' to poach our talent, then on what pretense do we pay a call to visit? No good enough reason and we ain't gettin' further than a run around with receptionists and refreshments."

OOC: I'm assuming bureaucracy skill is informing me of expected chances, and this likely won't need a roll. Whenever we formulate a real plan or two, those I would check Bureaucracy skill for more info.

Quick disambiguation: do the Protectorate police at the Golden Orb look to be off duty gathering, or does it seem like crime scene activity.
