In a light, yet somewhat resigned, tone of voice, Jolly says, "looks like I'm going for a swim."

He hands Mergo his sword and shield, and he starts removing his armor and handing the pieces to Peldic.  Once done with that he puts on the special boots.

Looking to Foromo, he says with a smile, "if I don't come back up in five minutes then find another way out of here and help Beyla complete the quest."

He dives into the north tunnel and starts swimming down the staircase and into the darkness beyond.

Foromo says "Hold", pulls out a rope, and starts to rope him up, meanwhile Hurmak looks over to Beyla, pulls out a coin, then asks Beyla to put the light spell on this coin, then drips some hot wax into the scroll case, then hands it to her to place the coinn on the hot wax.  (OOC - Now we have a flashlight, that can be capped...)

Jolly smiles at Foromo and says lightly, "I don't want a rope in case it gets tangled or snagged on something.  Beyla should save her spell for an emergency.  I'll be fine, don't worry, I don't plan on drowning this day.  Tomorrow maybe, but definitely not today!"

Beyla says, "Please Jolly, at least take this light tube so that you can signal us if needed. Perhaps 3 short bursts of light? It would ease everyone's mind and would take but a moment to complete right now."

Shirl nods in agreement, "Yes, one burst of light for come ahead. Two bursts for wait, and three bursts for danger. What say you?"

Beyla nods to the both of you, "Good luck and see you again soon!"

You both dive into the icy water and began to torpedo down the staircase propelled by powerful kicks. The "flashlight" plays about crazily, but does reveal a landing at the bottom of the stairs - down perhaps 40 feet from the surface. There is an open doorway and your breath is getting tight.

OOC - Do you enter or return to the surface for more air? If you opt to go for the doorway, roll a D20.
