"Shut up, Baldue," Jolly says over his shoulder as takes the torch from Mergo.

He pauses for a moment, and then put the torch to Norda's body.

Turning to the others, he says, "it is a long and dangerous road home, and there are strange orc-wolf humanoids roaming these hallways too.  Beyla and I encountered them just before finding you.  Let's not dally."

"Peldic will carry Norda's belongings for now," Jolly says in stronger voice now.

As her body is lit Norda briefly struggles to rise and then collapses back into the flames.

Hurmak, with a tear in his eye, takes the snake that bit Norda, cuts off it's head, peals the skin, then throws the rest into the flames, Hurtag picks up the rest and throws them into the flames as well.

Foromo mutters " I hate snakes, lost to many comrades to them..."

"OK, what's the plan, Short Stuff..." [trying to bring some light heartiness to this somber occasion, in his dwarven way...]

"It's time to secure our exit strategy from this accursed place," Jolly replies as he starts walking in the direction of where he last saw the beastmen.

Moving as quietly as possible, the party retraces Jolly and Beyla's steps back to the corner.



Ahead, you can hear the sound of fighting in the distance.

Jolly draws his sword as he moves forward at a cautious pace.  Mergo loads a stone in his sling as he walks along behind Jolly.

Baldue says from the rear, "Hey, what's going on up there?"

"Get ready for a fight," Jolly says over his shoulder as he continues to move forward down the hallway.

Moving quietly and watching down the corridor you spy a Beastman some ways off confront a red robed figure who blasts him with crackling lightning! He drops like a stone and the robed man darts down a side passage.

The robed man calls back to his would be killer, "Your final mistake was attacking Galstaff!"

Ahead the sounds of a terrible combat continue to grow louder!

Jolly continues at a cautious walk in the direction that the red robed man ran.

You continue to advance down the hallway and the sound of fighting grows louder! Looking to your left you see a portcullis:

As we approach the body of the dead beastman, Jolly says to Peldic, "torch that corpse, please."

OOC:  Is the portcullis up or down?  What can we see beyond the portcullis?

Peldic sets the corpse on fire as he passes it. Approaching the end of the corridor you see a staircase going up as well as hearing the terrific din of battle further to the north (OOC - indicated by green arrow).

without a word, Jolly heads directly up the stairs to the left and avoids the hallway where the sounds of battle are heard.

Running up an endless set of stairs you finally come to a partially open stone door. Your torch reveals you are now in a crypt plundered years ago. Moving to the iron gate of the crypt you see the rising moon over a vast graveyard.



Beyla sinks to the floor in relief, "Rest for a moment friends. The first foray into the Barrowmaze is over."

OOC - Everyone take 100XP for making it out alive.
