The party moves into the room...

Beyla positions herself somewhat near the doors in case healing is needed.

Norda faces off to the north to guard the party's back.

Baldue moves over to the defaced Paladin and checks it out.

Foromo - Looking over the doors carefully is a bit time consuming, but you see the task through. You are pretty sure they are not trapped as far as you can tell. OOC - see post #155

Near the center of the right door there is a small opening - suitable for the insertion of perhaps your pinkie finger.

What do you do?

Baldue's stomach growls loudly! "Hey, can we break for chow?"

Norda sneers at him, "Oh, you weak little man!"

Beyla nods thoughtfully, "It has been a very long time since we have taken nourishment." She turns to Jolly, "What do you think?"

Hey that's fine for now, but next time when either searching for a secret door or a trap just let me know your intent and I will roll for you. It helps keep the game a bit more suspenseful that way.

Baldue gasps, "Hey - that tooth was GOLD!"

His stomach forgotten for the moment, he rushes back to the other room, and comes back even faster!

"Holy crap, that guy is GONE!"

He pulls the door shut firmly and eyes it with weapon at the ready, "This place is nuts!"

Sigh...

"Okay, I'm hungry again!"

OK, Foromo spends more time going over everything in this room, Starting with the Statue on around till I'm back to the door. Am wondering, based on the types of Material used, the workmanship, the way the room is put together, what can I ascertain...how old is this place, what was it...an old Temple?? Was it built at the time of the Great Wars??

As he looks around, the stories of his great uncles and elders flood back into his memories...

Jolly thinks about it and then says, "alright, take a break and eat dry rations only.  Peldic, Mergo, and I will take watch while you all eat and Foromo checks out the room."

Baldue digs into his rations, lips smacking loudly with pleasure, periodically belching with gusto.

Norda drinks a bit of water and maintains watch to the north.

Beyla eats a bit of her dry trail rations and sips some water.

Foromo - The statue of the defaced Paladin is interesting as it depicts a warrior in ancient Wisse armor. The craftsmanship is good, more typical of the Wisse before their decline.

The same goes for the great iron doors - Fairly typical of the ancient Wisse. The small hole you earlier detected is from more recent times with bare metal exposed when it was drilled out.

The stonework of this room (and of the whole complex in general) looks far cruder to you than either the metalwork of the doors or the sculpting of the statue. It seems much older than either.

The position of the statue and the construction of the doors gives you the idea that both were set up to seal the opening to the SE, though what power the statue once had is now lost with time.

Beyla finally stands and speaks to Baldue, "Baldue, it is now time to move on."

Baldue hurridly crams the last of his dinner into his mouth, "OKAY, MMTTTHHH!"

At last all are refreshed and once again ready.

What do you do now?

Norda suddenly hisses, "Something's coming our way from up this Northern corridor - and it's not being quiet about it!!!"

You now hear the sound of running feet!

Beyla hefts her mace and has her symbol of the Hexarchs ready! She steps up behind Norda

Norda falls into a fighting stance at the Northern tunnel entrance, sword on high, ready to strike! She mutters, "Someone to my left side please - to plug up this tunnel!"

Baldue readies his shield and handaxe, shivering with fear! He steps back to near the statue of the Paladin.

Drohem

Jolly orders as he readies his shield and moves to stand next to Norda, "stand lively now!  Mergo, ready with the sling!  Peldic keep the torch lighted!"

Peldic Nods and positions himself so as to keep the area bathed in light.

Mergo load his sling and is ready.

Jolly, you and Norda see:



Six badly burnt creatures - followed by the Emaciated fellow you gutted in the previous room.

"THERE THEY ARE! GET THEM FOR THE MASTER!!"

The burnt creatures pick up the pace upon seeing Peldic's light source and charge to close with the party!

OOC - GM rolls 4 for initiative! Monsters can only attack 2 at a time in this bottleneck!
