While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Arkansan

Caden is still utterly bewildered by the scene before him. "What in all the hells is going on here! There is some sort of madness in this place, best we start moving out." He is directing this toward the group as a whole.

Mal, motionless & staring off in fear, waits in loving trust of his master...

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Artifacts of Amber

Alric shouts. "Is everyone okay"

Then thinks a moment "Or at least gonna be okay"

He waits just a moment for an answer before he heads back toward Mal to see how he is doing.

Mr. Kent

Hanalee hobbles towards Alric. "Nothing a stiff drink won't fix," she groans. "What the heck happened? Er...maybe I don't want to know..."

Alric reaches out to help Hanalee as he can, Between his small frame and somewhat weak nature the best he can do is perhaps help her keep her balance.

"Mal was taken like the rest of you. I hope he's ok."

"what happened?"

Open Space Between Downtown New Graveyard and Escarpment

11:47 AM

It's a hot sunny day. A merciful breeze caresses on by, cooling but short. Peaceful, the contrasting quiet is, considering your distance from lively Downtown. Surreal, considering the past hour of activity.

OOC: So, bad GM, I didn't RAW the Detect Magic duration (it's 10 whole minutes!) let alone the description during that time. Karnath needs to pass 2 Concentration checks at DC 10 to maintain her Detect Magic. Naturally at any time Concentration (and thus the spell) can be released without an action. Though rode by a rider, the rider did not release spell concentration or cast another spell with concentration.

I'm pretty sure being possessed by a demon would break her concentration.

OOC: And Karnath's impression would be wrong! (Though she's not exactly sure why...) :)

If you want, we can just say Karnath willfully stopped concentrating on the spell to "marshal her strength in a supreme effort of will to fight for her immortal soul!" /massive Socialist Realism painting in the background

OOC don't want to have a big discussion mid thread but the Basic rules also say

The DM might also decide that certain environmental
phenomena, such as a wave crashing over you while
you're on a storm-tossed ship, require you to succeed
on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw to maintain
concentration on a spell

So you might have required one, not that it matters at this point :)

Alric will continue with his task, Help Hana as much as he can (Not much) and then head for Mal.

OOC: It's basically DC 15 plus half whatever damage you may take so Karnath should have maintained concentration pretty easily.

Bright Feather frowns.."I am not going back into that evil land there are spirits of malicious intent that we are not equipped to fight as you see"...giving everybody a long look.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

ooc: I'm not seeing the point of rolling the dice.

OOC: It's DC 10 or 1/2 damage, whichever is greater. And it wasn't environmental phenomena either. :)

But it seems like Karnath was not interested in maintaining her Detect Magic as she felt she had more pressing things to worry about. Tah-dah! All done!

So, what are you all doing?

Namely Caden, Hanalee, & Karnath. Alric & Bright Feather are already stating intentions and actions.

Mr. Kent

"I'm with her," she says, nodding towards Bright Feather yet pointedly avoiding direct eye contact. How can she even face these women again, after the intensely negative thoughts she just thought about them?

"That is...I don't think we're equipped to deal with...whatever this was." She rubs her bruised arms gently as she continues. "We can press on to the older graveyard, but I dunno if we're all feeling up to it. Maybe ask around in town about this new graveyard...if anyone knows anything..."
