Artifacts of Amber

Alric shares everything he thinks is unusual except for exact details on attacking that viscous bush. The Bone being different, Mal's reactions, etc..

" . . .And that's whats up" He says with a grin.

"where be the others? and how was the girl doin?"

Arkansan

Caden briefly fills Alric in on what has happened on their end, then asks about the bone "so Mal wouldn't touch it? That's peculiar."

Artifacts of Amber

"Quite odd indeed" Alric nods " We should get the others and take a look in this den, Just in case, Enough seems amiss around here I don't want to take any chances."

dragoner

Quote from: Mr. Kent;786041"Feather, you...okay?" Hanalee asks as she walks to Bright Feather's side. "Um, I don't think Alric's here. Er, least not that I can see. Did something happen?"

Karni will repeat this sentiment, while looking and listening for anything strange.

OoC: So tell me what can put an elf in a daze/sleep? Just curious if Bright Feather has an idea of what could be affecting her.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

Opaopajr

OOC: Anything can daze an elf. Elves only have Adv on saving throws v. being charmed. Being paralyzed, or stunned, or any of the other combination of "conscious but out of it" conditions — not all caused by magic — is still frighteningly present in the world. Your people also would speak of places where "the earth isn't right," or "the veil is thin," etc. This knowledge does not soothe you.

Elves don't need sleep, and can't be put to sleep by magic. (They can always be knocked unconscious, though.) And I am not running psionics, as this is RAW Basic .pdf. So, for the most part you may rest assured you may be conscious, barring the truly bad things (this is not necessarily pleasing knowledge).

Is there anything in particular you want to investigate?

Bright Feather

You try to piece together what happened. Your shadow seems a touch shorter, the sun is higher in the sky. Caden would had to have taken at least a minute or more to get out of your visual line — unless he sprinted away. But you heard nothing like that, and he may be stealthy for a human, but that's frighteningly competent.

But you know Karnath & Hanalee, with their bulky armor, are nowhere near as stealthy. And they snuck up on you! On a path skirting the graveyard's edge, that'll take minutes of walking, let alone sneaking. All the while you have better visual distance along the main trail, too. No, this is all wrong.

Had to have been a time slip of some sort. You lost a chunk of time, but you're an elf! Things don't entrance you willy nilly like the younger races, and you certainly don't "sleep," let alone standing up and walking into a graveyard. Whatever you are dealing with is greater than a typical being. Could be a land anomaly... We speak of such things in the dark with shudders, but that conclusion is unnerving.

How much of your fears you choose to share is, as always, up to you.

Yes..I'm okay but this land is very wrong we should take precaution against evil in whatever way your Goddess allows you if we proceed....shakes herself and says...it's your choice friend, know I will protect all of us to the best of my ability if you want to go further...with a nervous smile and looks at you eyes luminous and whispers..if I lose myself again though.....

Karni is humbled by Bright Feather's faith and courage and looks down, thinking, "Should I try to detect sorcery? Were you beguiled by something?" Looking back up, "yes, the Great Goddess would want us to continue, otherwise the skein of her web wouldn't have brought us here." She looks about to see if she can see something of the land, or the graves, that is wrong. (ooc: perception roll?) "If you lose yourself again, I will be here, or fall beside you." With a demure smile, yet determined look. "Could this be necromancy?" She almost whispers.

"Not that your not a nice guy" Alric smiles ruefully " But just where are the Ladies"

dragoner

Karni sings a bit, quietly, as she inspects the surroundings:

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wave
 I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to
Save me, save me, save me from the grave ...

Bright Feather whispers...not charmed more like confused enough to lose where I was. I can't tell you if it's sorcery or something else but if you can detect such it's the least that should be done if we proceed...

Everyone - 11:35 AM

Caden

Phew, the sun is warm. Makes you thirsty. Lunch is coming up soon. Alric's a patient fellow to make this his job.

But waiting doesn't seem to be much of a plan. Though it is probably better than wandering into unknown danger. Besides, what else were we doing today?

Man, it's so hot today, the air heavy to breathe, the shade so nice...
----------

Alric

'... and the hermit thrush tends to favor scraping the forest leaf litter along trails looking for food. And lays a clutch of 2-5 speckled eggs, sometimes twice in a year.'

Caden looks bored. Perhaps the outdoor hunter life is too slow for him. But it's all about patience.

Besides, you're pretty sure its all about nearby wolves. They'd create red eyes around the Old Graveyard. They'd feel and look ominous in the dark, spooking night arrivals to town. Just need some confirmation.

Kind of miffed that he just took your word for the investigation, and didn't inspect himself. Not even help. Like he trusts you, yeah, but perhaps just lazy. Such laziness could get us all killed. People who bore easily, nothing but trouble...

Mal lays down looking occasionally back at you -- he seems bored, too. Yeah, nothing but trouble...
------------

Karnath

That's odd, you don't feel like you're going crazy just by being near here. And you're standing atop the downtown new graveyard. However, in your religion there are stories about unsettled graves causing havoc with the living nearby.

That's why it is so important to your faith to properly inter the dead just as you nurture life. Can't believe those higher priests!; how far has our society fallen, Great Goddess? Hmm... A chat to the undertaker, or at least the apprentice, might not be a bad idea.

Where are the guys and what's keeping them?
-----------

Hanalee

They're getting rather macabre on you, Karnath & Bright Feather is. Whisperings, singing spooky lullabies even, like some code. Like trying to keep you out of the loop. Or worse, spare you from frightening things like you're some kid! Or frighten you like some kid! Hey!

First Uncle Hondo, now your companions, geez. What's a destined hero gotta do to get some respect around here? This place creeps you out, but it's not like you haven't been around death before.

I mean, what was all that heroics last night, right? Oh, they don't even know the half of what you've seen last night. Yeah, you know what you've seen, you know who you are -- what do they know?, treating you like a kid. Them and their so close, buddy-buddy relationship...
---------

Bright Feather

This is uncomfortable, standing upon weird earth. And to confide to humans? What could they know about 'the long standing mysteries'? Their senses are not the same.

At least Karnath tried to suss out what happened. That's more than I can say for Hanalee, who just stands there waiting for the next 'heroic moment'. Honestly, the more she wants to seem as an adult the more of a child she seems.

And that uncle of hers had her pegged: to leave her people and prospects and love, for what? Glory? Good thing you're closer to Karnath, she can understand you.

But can she? Karnath herself says she suffers the same struggle as you. But just like the young wood elf suggested, how much can you really trust these young races, these "hot waters." Even the good ones have their agendas, and worse they will leave you fast to establish some sort of 'legacy'. No perspective.
----------

Aynsley

Such wealth... could almost taste it! Wait, that might actually be your stomach growling. Hmm, where to get food, and a good start on profiteering...

Karni nods at Bright Feather's advice, and begins to prepare to cast detect magic, seeing Hanalee a bit disturbed, she puts her hand on her shoulder and says, "Hey." Then casts the detect magic, paying special attention from whence it centers upon.

Mr. Kent

Hanalee turns to Karnath. "What? I'm fine," she mutters half-heartedly. She is tugging at her gloves, adjusting them, and then stretching the material covering her fingers. She then sighs and crosses her arms, removing the temptation to fiddle with her gloves.

"The quiet...makes me uneasy," she admits softly, and stands still as she watches the cleric's spell settle down.
