This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Bright Feather glances at Hanalee..."sure and I'll make sure Geraldine wraps up this food for you she shouldn't mind".

OOC: My apologies, I calculated feet:mile:rounds but didn't recalculate for a reasonable boomtown size (listenable, visible range). The ratio is 1 mile = 5280 feet = 176 rounds @ Spd. 30' = 17.6 minutes walking (or @ 8+ dash/jog, @ 4+ run w/ CON checks).

Main Street is now 1/2 a mile, with the well at the halfway point. Thus a quarter mile of town on either side. That brings things down to 88 rounds @ Spd. 30', or 8 min. 48 sec. walk, 4'24" dash/jog, 2'12" run w/ CON checks.

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Bright Feather & Karnath

Geraldine's

Bright Feather

"Like she hasn't seen the 'afternoon show' before," Georgette smiles and shakes her head as she watches Hanalee rush out to Aldric's call.

The stout human male comes by to you, Bright Feather, and asks, "Would you like me to leave a portion of that warming in an oven while you wait for your friend?"

Karnath

"I understand, and may you and your friends succeed in proving it is nothing more than a harmless critter.

"The Elder's Place is across the street, quite close. They handle incoming and outgoing messages, hold records, and reserve wealth. But it just looks like a bunch of old men sitting around smoking surrounded by young men serving their unspoken whims. Efficient, but admittedly a touch spooky."

Smiles..."if it's not too much trouble yes. It's very good by the way"....looks at Geraldine...." she seems a bit excitable doesn't she?".

Alric runs hoping he does not lose his breath on the way. Would make a sad excuse for a person trying to help to pass out from the heat.

He will stop short of the actual altercation to access what is actually happening. No sense in making a serious mistake in the heat of the moment.

Caden, Alric, and Hanalee

Main Street

Caden & Alric & Hanalee

Need a few CON and DEX checks if you are really booking it. Sprinting down the street and avoiding pedestrians/mounts takes a bit more effort. You'll need a successful pair (CON & DEX, both at DC 10) to pass each successive paragraph and finish halfway in just over a minute:

— At any time you can drop down to dash/jog and get halfway without much incident, just slower —

1st pair) You hear a female scream or two in that far distance. You dodge around miners, and their mules, loaded with gear. One animal seems like it spooks as it senses you but doesn't know how to get out of your way.

2nd pair) Thankfully your skill is on your side now. The animal doesn't rear and you don't have a problem on your hands. From what you can see that little handful of dots has picked up possibly two or three more fighting dots. Domestic biddies crossing, some holding baskets of unknown delicious smells, see you and freeze in your path. You think you spot onlooking relations (spouses?) from the other side of the street.

3rd pair) You push yourself and juke between the gaggle and vehicles. They fright a little, but then laud what they assume is a hero springing to action. You see part of the crowd down there scatter, as the oblong dots start to form into people. People are starting to crowd this safe distance to watch, making little people-walls pop up here and there. Slamming into them might bring the action closer than they'd like.

Halfway!) Like a trout in a stream you weave and muscle through without much incident. Milling groups start to part assuming you need to be there. The next you see of the ado is a ring of onlookers start to surround it. Something like ten combatants are all punching each other silly now. But it seems like a contagion now, picking up more in the melee as it goes on...

Hanalee

Oh, this you remember. Exciting, but also dangerous, as it might slip into a mob fight unchecked. One of the most important things you remember is holding back on escalation... Weapons drawn tends to make things uglier, sooner.

Usually the sheriff showed up before it got to that state, though. But he was a brutal and unwelcome sight.

Artifacts of Amber

(Rolled in room summary - 23 dex and 11 con then a whopping 8 dex and 10 con for second checks)

Alric zigs when he shoud have zagged and despite his vaunted agility he has to try to stop before colliding with  the ladies crossing the street. His torso's momentum has issues slowing and he ends up falling into a forward roll that looks anything but intended and he ends up spreaxd eagle in the middle of the street. He quickly hops up tips his cap "Ma'ams" and starts off again.

Caden is fairly confident in his conditioning and agility. He will sprint the distance, and take only a quick pause just before contact to asses the situation.

(18+3 1st dex check, 19+3 1st con check, 5+3 2nd dex check, 7+3 2nd con check.)
Rolled in room.

Karni will back out respectfully, thanking Preacher Sometimes for his advice and directions. Then she'll head to Bright Feather's table, grabbing her beer on the way, standing and finishing it, she'll ask, "Do you wanna go check that out? They might need me."

Nods at Karni..."just waiting on you to finish your business before checking it out, lets go".

(Bright Feather will Dash/Jog she has 35' movement)

Everyone

Main Street

Caden & Alric

Both at 2nd Pair)
Those damn biddies and their delicious food baskets! And after slipping through all those miners and their overpacked mules!

d20 roll = 6. And a delicious pie basket goes down! Aww, and it smelled good too.

d20 roll = 9. Them and theirs seem none too pleased, but are not stopping either of you to make another scene.

You press on but caution and sheer crowds hampers your sprint to the scene. You come to Halfway, the well, without incident and see the melee is larger and growing.

Hanalee

Are you running there, too? Otherwise you'll get there quite a few rounds after Caden and Alric. One or two fighters seem downed already.

Karnath & Bright Feather

Assuming Karnath is jogging too, both of you see the rest of the party significantly ahead, with Hanalee a touch behind. The crowds closest to you are enjoying the show at a safer distance, which just makes more obstacles for you both.

OOC: 88 rounds reduced by dash/jog to 44 rounds. Halfway would be 22 rounds. Ideal sprint would be 22 rounds, and halfway be 11 rounds.

Caden & Alric made good time, something like 14 rounds to get halfway.

Hanalee can jog to the same in 22 rounds.

Karnath & Bright Feather are on a minute or so delay, I'll just make it 10 rounds for convenience. You can jog to the halfway in 22 and 19 rounds respectively.

There'll be 2 further CON & DEX pairings for the latter half to the melee, if any want to try.

You'll all likely stagger to the melee at different rates this way.

Caden attempts to cover the rest of the distance at a sprint.

(Tough luck on these Rolls. 10+3=13, 4+3=7, 4+3=7, 4+3=7)

15 DEX +1+2 and 14 CON +10+2...she stumbles over a local's foot but runs faster at a graceful pace. ( I assume 3:and 12 respectively).
