This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Artifacts of Amber

Alric continues to assist Hana and just taking his licks as they land. He doesn't like it much but Hana seems to be getting the worse of it.

OOC - let me know if you need more rolls. Not sure if assisting requires one or not. At home don't have the rules downloaded yet :)

OOC: I'm sorry I should have been more clear. Hanalee gets Advantage for her attacks on r43 & r44, due to Alric's Help. So those two rolls in the dice room are needed, paired with your previous rolls taking the best: (1, 8) and (2, 14).

Let's calculate your to-hit. 8 +2 STR +2 PB = 12. 14 +2 STR +2 PB = 18. They both hit! Damage is 1 +2 STR = 3 damage.

I shall include what you accomplish in post #178.

I also assume that all of you, Alric, Caden, & Hanalee, Disengage and Speed towards Bright Feather on Round 45. Karnath will be there with you by that round, too.

Everyone, tell me what you want to do on Round 45. Next Roll your Initiative..

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Caden will attempt to sneak his way into the brawl and attack the dwarf Alric is fighting from behind. He will attempt to hit him with the pommel of his dagger rather than his fists. He is looking to knock him out rather than seriously harm him, but he realizes he isn't exactly heavy handed.

Initiative roll; 2 rolled in room

Opaopajr

OOC: Caden, are you attempting this in Rounds 43 & 44?

OOC: Caden, I'll need a Disadvantaged Stealth check, as the melee you are targeting is numerous — and surrounded by additional eyes. Doing this quickly as a surprise, with the dagger drawn & palmed in one move at the last second, will be the only real Stealth. If you succeed, attack roll with Advantage; fail, attack roll as normal, but risk crowd awareness and escalation.

It will also be an Improvised Weapon attack, using a dagger as a blackjack, so no Prof Bonus (you keep your +3 DEX for dagger finesse, naturally). If it hits, deal 1d4 damage.

As you have no lethal intentions, and are sober enough for self-control, if you reduce the target to 0 HP you may Knock Out instead. This means the dwarf will fall down unconscious but stable. Don't worry further, if things get here I will handle this behind the screen.

Summary: Round 43 you take a mild breather. Round 44 you make your Disadv Stealth check and (Adv?) attack roll. You risk crowd escalation if caught.

I rolled a 9 in room for the stealth portion. I rolled a 19 in room for the attack portion. Uh oh, lets hope this doesn't get out of hand :D

OOC: Wow, I probably shouldn't tell you but I was thinking of an Average DC with Disadv (a.k.a. DC 15 w/ -5 penalty). You got 9 roll +5 skill = 14. Very close!

Anyway, would you like to roll 1d4 damage, or shall I? The results will be placed inside post #178 as well, for orderliness. :)

Again, Everyone, tell me what you want to do on Round 45. Next Roll your Initiative. Note post #178, as the crowd will be rustled.

You can roll for the damage, the die gods don't seem to be favoring me.

After he hits his target Caden will try to fade back out of range.

Mr. Kent

Hanalee grunts and breaks off the battle. "Good show! I'm tapping out!" she hollers.

(Initiative roll = 13, for Round 45 Hana will do as Bright Leaf requests and run to her friend's side)

OOC: A recap of the horror from Round 44. Disengaging will be useful to regroup as a party, but... I honestly don't know what to say, besides I am so sorry. Total behind the GM screen reveal — cheating if you will — I did have an event scheduled after so many rounds, and it is close now. I don't even know if that helps.

Quote from: Opaopajr;772525Main Street Brawl, Round 44

Shit, one of the bruisers recognizes you, Alric. And as a dwarf, he has no qualms about "hitting someone his own size." An eye squint of recognition is the only lead up before he jab-cross combos your face (Alric takes 3 damage).

A different bruiser to Hanalee's side plants one in her left kidney (Hanalee takes another 3 damage). Her previous attacker found something wrong with his neighbor and swapped targets, which basically means staying still and just angling a bit to the right. The fighters, having been in a single group for several rounds now, are tightening up into a smaller ball. Just about everyone looks worse for wear.

Caden, after a brief breather, decides to take the heat off his brave buddy. He walks in nonchalantly and pommel shots with his dagger the dwarf antagonist behind the ear at the very last second. It would have looked like a regular punch to the head, but seems like that dwarf has a saloon girl friend with sharp eyes. "Ooh! Cheater! He used a weapon to the back of his head, he did! You tried to kill him on the sly you bastar—"

A loud clap interrupts the din from the uptown side of the brawl.

"Alric! Hanalee! Caden! Get here now!" Bright Feather yells out just as Karnath arrived.

"Cheaters!" The crowd picks up the call of foul play. "Killers!" The rabble is roused, you are hearing the call picked up like ripples in a pond. "Assassins!" All about flash the sight and sounds of weapons being drawn, of wild (arcane? divine?) gestures being started. (I rolled a 4 on an Easy DC 10 save for the crowd to not lose their shit. It was my GM second chance at mercy, and I am so sorry...)

God help you all, here comes Round 45...

OOC: Well this one is on me guys, I was hoping I could get away with that one and mange to take some heat off Alric.

Caden will make sure Alric is retreating then he will do so as well. He will try to regroup with the others.

Main Street Brawl... Riot, Round 45

Hanalee will Disengage and move to Bright Feather & Karnath. Initiative 13 +1 DEX = 14.

Caden will Hold action until Alric safely Disengages and moves to the party gathering point, then do the same himself (noble!). Initiative 14 +3 DEX = 17.

Karnath will boom out an oratory with Thaumaturgy, saying...? Initiative 8 +2 DEX = 10.

Alric will Disengage and move to the party gathering point. Initiative 17 +4 DEX = 21.

Bright Feather will create another loud clap sound with Prestidigitation centered by Karnath. Initiative 6 +2 DEX = 8.

Riot will lose its shit; the party, especially Caden, is in danger. Disadvantaged Initiative = 2.
