This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Initiative roll; 7, rolled in room

Caden will try to make a quick assessment of who may be the aggressors in the smallest group and then will engage them with his fists. He is in no hurry to escalate the situation to weapons use.

"Okay I throw sparkling lights around you and you shout really loud at them like your mother would do when you misbehaved. And  I add a clap after you're done, deal?".

"It sounds good, maybe I can hold a holy symbol up as well, or maybe not, they might not recognize it."

OoC: I wonder why they are fighting.

Mr. Kent

Ahh! The rush of racing to the fray! Hanalee carries this memory in her very muscles!

She dashes past pedestrians after Caden and Alric. "Excuse me sirs!" she shouts to the miners, mindful of tripping on their gear--

--and smacks right into a mule.

"Owwowww," Hanalee moans as she limps away from the pack animal.

"MULE!" she shouts to one in particular. The mule brays at her and trots away, shaken but mostly unscathed. As she collects herself, Hanalee hears Bright Feather shouting from behind.

"A great ruckus over there!" she calls back, seeing that Karnath is with her. "A melee!"

Hanalee then begins to jog...

(OOC: I think this will make her reach the halfway at the same time as Bright Feather, but well behind the men)

Since you started to run (even though you failed at the first pair) it actually lowers your 44 rounds to 40 rounds. So just out of sync with Bright Feather, though she is fast even while delayed, you got a bit of a sprint in. You'll be a full minute behind Caden (10 rounds).

You are both within shouting range, but Hanalee is probably not looking backwards to see how close Bright Feather is.
Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Caden

Group 3, Four Combatants

You can't tell who started this fight, and it seems rather hopeless to figure it out now. You smell liquor breath and sweat around you.

The one who was being attacked by the saloon girl doesn't seem to be the biggest, though with his scratched face he's swinging for the fences wildly.

There is a big guy in this group, he'll take longest.

The other two are smaller but alternating between the big guy and pot shots at the blinded one.

Main Street Brawl, round (3)1

Group 2, Five combatants.

They go first and beat the ever-loving crap outta each other. The downed guy is still being whaled on. One of the fighters got thrown into the crowd, and thus the group picks up its sixth combatant... The crowd cheers.

Group 1, Six combatants.

They go next and the big guys in here are laying down punishment. The guy grappling another got clocked hard, and looks like there is little holding him up. The held guy should be able to free himself next round. A big guy kidney punched another big guy, but he flinches & he's still up.

Group 3, Four combatants & Caden

You get to strike first, Caden. Any target in particular?

OOC: Before I go to bed: whiff v. Caden, hit guy, whiff guy, tough hit guy.

Caden will make a go at the big one, maybe if he goes down the others will settle a bit. When he is range Caden will fire off a punch.

Rolled in room =18, not sure of all the relevant modifiers here.

"I suppose it wouldn't hurt anything if you did that, it might even add to the performance".

OOC: My guess is drunkenness and gambling considering what kind of place this is.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

Artifacts of Amber

Initaive is a 20 +4 for 24. when I get there.

Being not very strong and not good with his fist Alric will attempt to draw away one of the biggest brawlers by taunting them, Hiding amongst the crowd using his natural halfling god given skills and basically concentrating on avoiding getting hit.

You are proficient in all simple and martial weapons, that includes Unarmed Strike. That is 18 roll + 2 PB = 20. You hit.

You deal Unarmed Strike damage, plus any relevant modifiers, which is just STR. You deal 1 damage to the big guy in group 3.

The combat is spread out over 30' across this street, so moving to another group will definitely take movement.

If you choose to remain in group 3, roll initiative for next round.

That will be for Alric in 6 rounds... soon to be 5.

OOC: I see time schedules will kill this if I don't do something. PbP is its own animal, and I am going to have to adjust to keep things flowing. We could do this round by round, but by then it will be Labor Day.

To speed this up I am going to automate the next 5 rounds, using previous info. Caden, let me know if you target anyone different, or do something different, within that time and we can ret-con. Otherwise I am continuing with you Unarmed Striking the tough guy in Group 3.

This will apply to everyone in the future as well. We will call these functions Micros, as in a Micro Bot for automated battle function. You can label how many rounds you want a Micro by adding rounds to it, e.g. Micro 3: Do X move & Y act (for three rounds). You can leave it ongoing by saying: Micro ->: Do X move & Y act (until I say otherwise).

So currently Caden is doing this:
Micro 5: Unarmed Strike on Group 3 tough guy, Move to stay within Group 3 melee.
Caden, roll to hit 5 times (repeat 5 1d20)

In the future, when you are more familiar with this and have developed favorite coordinated party actions, we might introduce Macros. Until then feel free to continue discussion and ask questions about this technique in the Interest Topic.

Caden will continue to attack the tough guy and attempt to follow the melee of the group he is in.

Rolls:8,18,7,15,7 all rolled in room

OOC: Sounds good to me. Pace can be difficult to manage in a play by post. Sounds like a good idea to have us present our action for the next few rounds at a time instead of one round at a time.

Main Street Brawl, Round 32-36

Caden & Alric

Alric has just entered the Brawl, skirting the crowd edge and Taunting the fighters. I am assuming:
Micro ->: Taunt fighters from the crowd edge, Move as necessary to Hide behind others.

Caden is peppering Group 3 tough guy. And scores two solid hits! Sadly the realization comes that unarmed striking seems to be a strength game...

Group 1

Two people have gone down. One regular guy and three tough guys left. (Descriptions if people care)

Group 2

Two people have gone down. Two regular guys and two tough guys left. (Descriptions if people care)

Group 3

Two people have gone down. One regular guy, one tough guy, and Caden left.

Caden takes 8 damage. I'm very sorry, the blind guy swinging for the fences rolled stupid good (off-line die roller, sorry!): 14, 16, 17, 1, 16 and gets +2 to-hit and +1 damage.

The tough guy starts targeting a regular guy while cussing him out for being a little cheater. That regular guy eventually goes down in Round 35. Previously, another regular guy who seems to have been the saloon girl's friend, goes down on Round 32, clear-cocked by the suspected cheater. The blinded guy from the saloon girl finds a body to wail on and keeps swinging for the fences — unfortunately this is Caden, and even with Disadvantage this guy lays on the punishment.

The blinded guy is recovering his vision now, surprised who he's been beating, yet will try to move to the next opponent as if it was nothing personal. He is the lone regular guy left with Caden. The tough guy has taken quite a few licks, but looks like he still has plenty of steam. He's downed his suspected cheater, so he's good in this group and seem to be looking for his other target in the other groups. He looks like he will attempt to disengage and switch groups.

Main Street, Running through the Crowds

Hanalee is 4 rounds from the Brawl.

Bright Feather is 7 rounds from the Brawl.

Karnath is 13 rounds from the Brawl. (I'll need more CON&DEX checks to close the gap)
