There's a flash and a hiss and then one of the approaching kitties is simply gone, along with a chunk of the branch it was leaping from.

The feline forms close for a variety of swipes and lunges, but you all manage to evade assault, save for Smokey, who takes a small scratch for 1 damage as one of the blighters leaps down from atop the kiosk and manages a swipe along the way.  

They're now facing you, two on Smokey and one each on the rest, hissing like grumpy cats, though these aren't precisely mundane cats.  Six legged, with a rainbow pattern of striped fur now fading to grey, the gaunt creatures are about the size of a corgi, and just as low to the ground, though they have feline eyes and ears, and long tails that twitch in rhythm to your movements as if it is how they keep track of their prey.

Smokey, it's your turn.

Shocked by the sudden attack and pain of being clawed, Smokey quickly lashes out with a massive paw at the creature to his left.  However, it was an awkward and off-balanced attack and the strange creature easily ducks the Bearman's reflexive attack.

OOC:  Smokey rolls a 17 for the attack and has a +1 for his STR, but I think the attack will miss.

That is indeed a whiff.

Faraday is up next.

Faraday shrieks and fires his laser pistol at the cat-thing nearest him.



Close, but no cigar!

The lance of light strikes a nearby wall and makes some pretty sparks, but little else.

Tig, you're up.

Tig turns and shoots the kitty nearest Faraday.
Tig: 1D20 => 13 (Target -1 for my dex) to hit and 2D6 => 8 potential damage for the shotgun.

You just miss the mark, managing to lightly graze the fur on the kitty, but no real injury.

Sal is up next.

Ooc: Sal originally looked for some cover - did he find any?

You should have no trouble finding cover behind one of the trees.

Keeping the tree interposed between himself and the creature, Sal fires the beamer once again.

Ooc: 18 . . .

Alas, another miss.

The two felixes on Smokey move for another pass, swiping to either side of him in a two-pronged attack too quick to avoid, and scoring a total of 5 damage between them.

Another homes in on Faraday with a yowling pounce and scores a strike to one of his arms, cutting a goodly scratch for 2 damage.

The last surviving felix goes for Tig with a vicious snarl and sinks its jaws into one of his legs, dealing 4 damage.

Assuming you've survived the ordeal, it is your move next, Smokey.

Although his fur is bloody from three separate wounds by these strange feline-like aliens, Smokey maintains his composure and concentrates his mind into a singular laser focus.  He concentrates on the blood of the creature attack him from his left, and wills the temperature of the creature's body fluids to rise rapidly and exponentially.

OOC:  Smokey has taken 6 out of 10 Hit Points and is still in the fight.  He uses his Pyrokinetic Assault power on the creature spending 3 Psi Points to get the damage roll to 3d6+1; and he does 8 damage.

The felix bursts into flames with a yelp and a slump, soon no more than a charred relic.

Faraday is next.

Faraday runs toward Smokey, firing wildly at the creature as he goes. "Help!"

Pretty sure that's a hit (if I understand the rules correctly). Damage is 3 points.

That is a palpable hit, and one of the creatures whirling around Smokey yowls in pain and reels from the impact of the shot, its fur sizzling and blood already visibly pouring from the wound. The kitty is not long for this world.
