This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Arsilasral is down in the dungeon to rescue someone.  It's the most compelling reason for him to go deep into the bowls of the earth.

And as my detail to add to this piece of background, the person Arsilasral is rescuing was taken by the warlike foe that Llanas saw regularly among his fellow border-patrolling throwback elves. Llanas sees dealing with this sort of foe as part of his responsibility, no matter how far he is from his homeland.

Perhaps drow? I can see drow getting wicked delight out of having orcs do their bidding, and they'd be a natural fit for kidnapping & nasty business going on underground. Lizardmen are another strong choice... or yuan-ti!

Actually, I think yuan-ti would totally be my pick, if I had my druthers. Elf-on-drow enmity is a little played-out! Plus, with yuan-ti you get to have snake-god cults, and snake-god cults are great. You always get to fight some preposterously huge snake-god avatar in the Room of Blood Sacrifice, or the Nest of Poison and Bones (or whatever) and feel like a badass. ;)

Sounds good to me. :)

Drow are old and busted, snake people are the new hotness. God bless the Internet, I never owned an MM2.

Will this be acceptable as a GM reference ?

Use whatever you like! I know nothing that's canon or whatever. My only preference is that they be the kind with a cobra-head, humanoid torso, and giant serpent's-tail for a bottom half. Snake cult is good. Everything else: dealer's choice!

Ha, and having snake-men be the ancient for of my bloodline explains why I'm toting this antitoxin around. Don't leave home without it!
