This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Zwiehander, for someone Not familiar with Warhammer; but familiar with D&D?

I have a little curiosity about what a d100 system might look like; although I can pretty much already imagine.
I need you to roll a perception check.....

One of, or one of the instagators. He certainly had it in for Pundit and believe Zak too. Theres an old thread here on the mess. The consultants names have been removed from 5e Basic and according to WOTC all 5e core books from the time of statement on for future print runs. I havent seen any of the newer prints, 5e core is up to 14 or more now believe.

I moved from playing SotDL to Zweihander. My group were not as enthused about D20 rules. I was gifted Zweihander and we gave it a try. We have been playing it now for over a year now. The rules appear balanced and D100 seems to suit my group better. The book does have serious bloat that gets in the way with regards to reading and finding rules, especially at the gaming table. I know there is a revised version, but can't comment on that. Once our campaign is over we will be moving to another system. My overall thoughts is that it is a decent system, but just another edition of Warhammer for all intents and purposes.

What's the key differences between OpenQuest and Revolution D100?

How close to Runequest are they?

And wasn't there a Magic World retroclone?

I have no experience with Revolution D100 so I can't speak to it, but it's a game I've wanted to check out for a while now.

OpenQuest is very much related to Runequest, except it's more of a rules-light version. I've heard it described that it's pretty much on the opposite end of the spectrum from Mythras/Runequest 6. Where the latter went for lots of numbers and rules and depth, OpenQuest keeps things lighter and simpler. I don't have a ton of experience with Mythras, but from what I've seen it would be pretty simple to port systems and parts between the two games. There's supposed to be a Kickstarter for a 3rd edition of OpenQuest in the next month or so, but the changes aren't too drastic. The core of the system hasn't really changed from the beginning.

If you want to get a quick look at OpenQuest for yourself, check out The Age of Shadow. It's an older OpenQuest game and you can get the main rules for free in PDF off of DTRPG. It's essentially a Lord of the Rings game with the serial numbers filed off.

Revolution D100 is one of many games that is doing interesting things with the core D100 mechanic (see Delta Green, Mothership, Chill 3e). It's a very cool system with lots of abstract mechanical widgets. My only complaint is that (and this is just a preference thing) the magic system is very much like savage worlds - there's a list of powers (flight, etc.) that are trapped based on whether they're magic, psionics, etc.

My challenge in finding a good WFRP-type-game is replicating the career system. There are lots of lighter D100 and non-D100 system, but only WFRP / Zweihander have a really good career mechanic.
