This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

A few more random notes from Gen Con, not on D&D 4e:

-Fuck, I'm wiped.  I got up early, and have a long night ahead.  I'm going to go hang out with the Dark Matter Studios guys for a bit, then find Maw.

-clash ran an AWESOME game of In Harm's Way for us!!!  Well done!

-Suzi Yee wished me luck in the ENnies, and was as sweet as can be--and she writes a helluva product.   Man, Expeditious Retreat Press kicks so much frickin' ass.

-There's been a lot of complaining about video game companies this year.  Several publishers I talked to were all doom & gloom about it.  At least 1 publisher, however, said it wasn't as bad as all that--a lot of the video game stuff that was in the hallways last year is now just inside the exhibit hall, he said.  Perhaps 15% of the hall this year is video game companies...

-Tenacious Games has some deep pockets.  They have a huge display, are sponsoring tonight's dance, a frickin' tour bus they rolled in with a custom design job, and all for a game a lot of folks haven't seem to have played yet.  But man, do they have their act together.  Nice people.

-Wow, do I still have a lot of booths to hit!

EDIT:  Will post more late tonight, so if you have any questions, I'll try to hit them then...

What is that DMG cover image? Little Shop of Horrors, by Erol Otus?

On a general note, you know what sucks?

9 months till May.

People should announce stuff the day it's shipping.

Surely that's not too much to ask?

Great stuff Zach!

Make sure you stop by the Pinnacle booth and check out the Savage Worlds scene for me. Also, track down the blue-haired Fred Hicks of Evil Hat and ask him how Dresden Files is coming along. Tell everyone I said hi!

Quote from: Zachary The First-clash ran an AWESOME game of In Harm's Way for us!!!  Well done!

Zachary ended up blowing up the USS Philadelpia in Tipoli Harbor with the Intrepid rigged as a fireship - unfortunately, he ended up minus an eye and with a permanent limp taking one for the team. They earlier took a xebec frigate in fierce fighting. Klax's men and the afterguard were locked head to head when Zachary's men took the forcastle, then raced down the off side gangway to take the enemy in the flank, whereupon they collapsed and surrendered. Klaxon ended up rescuing the Philadelphia's 300 man crew from the Bashaw's castle using some neat misdirection and sneak kills. We had a blast!

They certainly do! I visited Joe and Suzi first off! Great people! :D

Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

Quote from: BalbinusWell, me for one, but I am not the target audience and I am economically irrelevant to WotC given I'm not an existing customer and unlikely to become one.

This is just a tool for playing D&D online, Balbinus. It's also got voice chat and revealable maps and such.
Download Secret Santicore! (10MB). I painted the cover :)

Quote from: SettembriniOh, and the DI-intensive 4th edition would cripple the emerging D&D market that Germany is.
Especially all the community shit is totally irrelevant to non-North Americans, I fear. But the huge thing is the language barrier.

Sad days lay ahead for Germany. You can translate a book, but not the DI.
I saw posts on ENWorld from an Israeli gamer saying that Wizards promised Hebrew translations for things, so I suspect German is on the list.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Settembrini

Wow. That would be a splendid move.

2 Questions:

1. Did no one challenge these fuckers on why they lied back in February at the D&D Experience? Can you get no response from any of them on this?

2. Any sign of anything related to FtA!? Any promotion of the game?

1.  I'm trying to gauge some sort of response on this.  There will be a Q&A later, but to hell with that official line stuff.  SS, DD.  I'll work on this for you, but so far today, each employee I've spoken with has claimed complete ignorance of the fact.

2.  Well, um, me. :)  I'm supposed to be running a game today or tomorrow for it.

Um, yeah, the Campaign Coins I mentioned yesterday were out for the first time.

Monte Cook's WOD is out, haven't gotten to see it yet.  Pathfinder Player's Guide is also supposed to be out at the Paizo booth, but they were too busy for me to get close yesterday.A Gygax Board game, King of England, King of France is out.  Looks so-so.

Rogue Games has put out Colonial Gothic, a Revolutionary-War era supernatural/horror game.  Looks really, really interesting.  It frickin' screams Young Goodman Brown.

Faery's Tale Deluxe has come out, through Green Ronin, I believe.  No report on that one.

Mongoose had out a gazetteer for the Hyborian World!  I'll try to get pics!

Troll Lord has several new Castles & Crusades products, including the 2nd edition of Monsters & Treasures.

First, GO, I'll stop by Pinnacle today, if I can!  And I've been looking for Fred all of yesterday!  He's evidently very, very busy this Con, according to Flames Rising of Matt McElroy.

The convention hall is just about to open and those that left last night are walking back in streams from their hotels.  Indy has been completely taken over by geeks.  Some guy is randomly beating on a giant primitive drum  as folks walk in.  Couches, chairs, and floors everywhere house still-dozing gamers.  The stink will really start in later today.  I'll be reporting a couple of times today, I hope, and I'll also cover the ENnies (where I'll find out if I'm an '08 judge or not), albeit likely on a delay.  For now, I need to get back in the fight.

I happen to know for fact it's a second printing, and not a new edition.  Ask 'em again...
