This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

We've met with Zachary, and he introduced us to Kevin S. who was a real nice guy. Told us stories of Eric W. - who he says is a true genius.

Post later!

clash, where the hell are you posting from?  We have a game in 90 minutes!

OK, guys, I checked the Sagamore Ballroom, where the 4e announcement will be tonight.  There's limited internet connectvity, so I'll be trying to relay my posts by phone to a friend, so I can liveblog the 4e announcement as it happens.  Ghetto, but we'll get it. :)

Probably the coolest thing I've seen thus far are Campaign Coins, a new venture by an Aussie company, making their debut at Gen Con:

Damn cool.  About $60 for 122 coins, right now.

Here's our pal, Keith Senkowski, engaging in some customer relations:

Me, with Larry Frickin' Elmore:

This was the line for Privateer Press.  Privateer is usually one of the constantly busiest booths at Gen Con:

The indie gaming folks have definitely experienced a diaspora of sorts.  Aside from the Forge booth this year, you have things like Luke & Jared's booth, and The Ashcan Front, which is showing off Ashcan editions of games:

Matt Wilson, of the excellent PrimeTime Adventures, has a new ashcan out called Galactic.  I thumbed through it, and it looked like it's all about troupe play.  Interesting.

Here's a demo of Kenzer's Aces & Eights.  Again , I apoloigze for the poor pic quality.  Theresa is the family photographer, and she's not going to be able to make it until Saturday:

Of course, all I've heard all day is 4th ed, 4th ed, 4th ed.  Paizo had a conference seminar from 5-6 entitled "What's New At Paizo".  With folks wanting to get to the D&D announcement in time, I think WoTC might have just stolen their thunder.

I have a game with clash and klaxon in about an hour--my next post should be the news conference for 4th edition.  After that, I'll post a wrapup when I get back to the room tonight.

If there's anything special you'd like me to cover, just say so!

Wow those coins really are droolworthy, but 60 bucks may be too rich. It depends on how many you get.

Do you think Mongoose will have any Traveller teasers? Might be worth a look.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

A lack of moderation doesn\'t mean saying every asshole thing that pops into your head.

Ronin

Ok you can now officially color me jealous. You got to meet Larry Elmore. That is awesome.
On a more serious note. Did you get to see any of the actual play with the Ace and Eights? What was it like?
As a side note the town they were using looked sweet.

Keep the pictures coming. Preferable from angles that don't show too many geeks in shorts.

Good luck with that!

On a side note: The picture of the Aces & Eights demo game appears to actually have a girl in it.  News at 11. :D

They are getting uderway.  The ballroom is packed.  A 100 foot wide red dragon adorns the front of the ballroom and a beholder occupies one corner.  Free t-shirts for everyone!

It's 6:30 and the lights are dimming, hopefully they are getting started. Only the beholder is lit up now...

Ok, we've got some gay music going now...looks like a retro D&D movie is being played. Orcs, british people, old school stuff.  Now some D&D circa 1989 with a humorous vignette.

Waiting for the show to start...

The sound in the ballroom is really bad, and it's really hard to hear.  The movie has progressed to 2003.  The british guy may actually be french.  Ok, now they are making fun of how involved the former (3.5) rules are.  Fast forward to 2008.

Some trolls are being decapitated and it's time to pimp the online stuff...

"The game remains the same"...but with refinements.

And the crowd goes wild!

And now comes the introduction of the WotC bigwigs...

The Pkayer's handbook will be released in May.

The Monster Manual will be released in June.

The Dungeon Master's Guide will be released in July.

The bigwigs are playing in the office and can't wait for the release!

More pimping of technolgy.
