This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: RPGPunditI don't think that's a joking matter.  We have a huge selling point in that: 4e is moving further and further away from the Old School D&D feel.  It bears very VERY little resemblance to 1e.

FtA! is in many ways closer to that "feel" than even 3e is, and definitely more than 4e seems to be panning out to be.

Of course, we're by far not the only game in town that will be like that. But we push the fact that we feel like old school "red box D&D", and that we are easy to pick up and start playing, and we can get some of the disgruntled brand-new 4e grognards.  Post on the sites where these guys are visible: ENworld and the Wizard Boards.

The joke was the implication that we would then RULE THE WORLD! Like that Far side cartoon with the two spiders building a web over the bottom of the kid's slide - "If we pull this off, we'll eat like kings!"

More Things I would Do Next Time:

Bring a shotgun for those thrice-damned cicadas!

Camp in a trailer, an RV, a cabin... ANYTHING BUT A TENT! A squall came up last night and literally flattened the tent, and pured water in. We had to spend the night in Klax's miniature car, crammed with wet camping gear. Misery has a new meaning! We had to postpone our trip to Canada to meet with Rich Parkinson.

  - Not when I am the ONLY  Klingon there.
    {{{:-)

Its kind of sad really. Originally in 2000 to 2001, ALL of us were dressing "Klingon" or damn close to it.  Since then, some of the others have gained weight or had health problems - and no longer fit their Klingon outfits. A few didn't take care of their headpieces. The one you see in Zachary's picture is pretty old and GenCon may be the last con that i wear it at. Saturday I wore a forehaed that I borrowed from a friend that looks alright on me and is better in the heat. PLUS, they want to do other costumes.

We trade off in shifts when we work that table - some days I was the opening shift, some days I closed. And it is very much like WORK.

When the others ask me if I will do anything other than Klingon - I say maybe Go'auld armor from STARGATE SG-1 or leather armor of a Knight.  But hey, my Klingon stuff still fits and I'm half-proud that it does.

One good note :a young woman named Rebecca showed up on Sunday who has a Klingon outfit. She didn't bring it with her....but she knows my Klingon sisters in Illinois. She may be helping us at the table next year. So, Klingon women next year and Ed gets a little bit of a break and gets to breath a little.

Oddly, it occurs to me I did not see the Klingon jail ONCE this GenCon, or I would have stopped by. I used the side entrance to the hall.

Good for you, Slaadman... A confession: I've NEVER run a D&D campaign on the Planes. But after Casey posted that CoB table of contents and other details on ENWorld over the weekend, I'm psyched. "Plane of Molten Skies," how cool is that...

Rockin! :win:

I'm an old planar junkie. But CoB is a nice one to transition from Dungeon Crawl to Planar gaming, as it does have a fair amount of the former, at least from my initial browse through (which was brief, because due to running a Spycraft game AFTER my bag were packed, my backpack only had Spycraft stuff in it for the flight home... and once I got home, I was so exhausted from the con that I couldn't force myself to stay up long.)

Quote from: Zachary The FirstGentlemen, here are your boogeymen:

Ron Edwards is the one directly behind Mr. Blue Hat.  I'll say one thing:  they run a whole hell of a lot of demos, and for each other's games, too.  Very collective.
Hey, "Mr. Blue Hat" is me. (Blue Devil Games, natch.) I was running a demo of Passages, which coincidentally I recently sent of to the Pundit for review. You are right about the comraderie and support of the booth. I had to leave the last day, and Leonard Balsera (of Evil Hat) offered to run demos for me!

And? How is it? I saw City of Brass at the local store, but balked at the price tag.

Well, welcome, Mr. Blue Hat!  I saw your hat a lot over crowds and such!  Very distinctive! :)

Hey, thank you!  Knowing people actually read it, and perhaps liked it, is thanks enough for me!

Doc Rot, I honestly don't remember.  They were crazy busy at the time, and we exchanged some idle pleasantries before I decided to let them deal with, you know, paying customers and fans and such.
